Here's How Twitter Reacted to Caitlyn Jenner

by Sara Levine

News recently broke of Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover, and for the most part it was a celebratory moment for trans people and their allies. I say for the most part because I feel like, while we all hoped for the best, anyone who's ever been on the Internet was bracing for all the trolls to come out of the woodwork to spew transphobic garbage (I know I was). It's unfortunate my second reaction after reading about the news (right after "OMG that's amazing, she looks incredible") was "uh oh, what are the jerks of the world wide web going to say?", because this is a reality of the world we live in in 2015: haters gonna hate, and trolls gonna troll. Right?

Sort of. I scoured the Twittersphere for posts about Caitlyn Jenner, and was pleasantly surprised. Sure, there was some transphobia to be found, but most of the posts I saw were positive and supportive of Caitlyn and her transition. If the outpouring of love and support shows us anything, it's that maybe the Internet isn't such a bad place after all, and maybe all people aren't literally the worst.

I know we could all use an extra dose of warm and fuzzies today, so I've rounded up a bunch of happy and encouraging responses to Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover. Beware: these posts will probably make you feel all the feels.

I would have tweeted back, "YAAAAS," but it looks like somebody already did.

Omg, parenting goals^.

Wow. If you'll excuse me, I have to go....uh....blow my nose. I'M TOTALLY NOT CRYING, Y'ALL.
