The 10 Most Memorable Celebrity Arrests of 2013

From Legally Blonde to legal troubles: We were shocked earlier this year when we discovered America's Sweetheart, Reese Witherspoon, was anything but when she and her husband were arrested for a DUI and disorderly conduct. (The Oscar-winning actress, embarrassingly enough, managed to pull the "Do you know who I am?" line into the incident involving Georgia police.) And we were not so shocked at all when, continuing his violent streak, Chris Brown was arrested for assault in October. But the two stars weren't the only celebrities who had a run-in with the law in 2013. Click on to see the Hollywood stars who definitely don't deserve a hand after finding themselves in handcuffs this year. It wasn't the first year of celebrities behaving badly and it won't be the last (they're human after all) but there were definitely some surprising culprits in 2013.

Chris Brown

No stranger to jail time and bad behavior, Chris Brown was booked again in October after allegedly getting into a fight with a group of men tried to photobomb a picture he was taking with female fans. Brown, who is currently serving probation after his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna, followed up the arrest with a stint in rehab for anger management. Wise life decision, or shrewd career move to avoid jail time?

Amanda Bynes

You may have forgotten about good ol' Amanda Bynes now that she's safely tucked away, far from Twitter. But back in April 2013, following a series of increasingly disturbing incidents, Bynes was arrested by the NYPD for allegedly throwing a bong out the window of her NYC apartment. She later accused one of the officers of "slapping" her vagina during the arrest (a claim the NYPD later proved was false), and was hospitalized for mental evaluation three months later after lighting her neighbors' driveway on fire. Since then, Bynes has remained silent on Twitter, which is the best decision she's made since starring in She's the Man.

Emma Roberts

In July, American Horror Story: Coven star Emma Roberts and her costar and boyfriend, Evan Peters, had an altercation in their hotel room in Montreal, Canada that left Peters with a bloody nose and bite mark... and landed Roberts in police custody. The actress was later released, leading her rep to call the situation "an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding" and Peters' fans to launch a full-scale attack on the actress. Domestic abuse is not excusable — but neither is cheering on Roberts' rape scene on American Horror Story: Coven.

Kevin Hart

Comedian Kevin Hart wasn't laughing when the California Highway Patrol pulled him over and arrested him for drunk driving in April 2013. Hart was allegedly driving at high speeds, almost collided with a gas tanker truck, and failed a sobriety test when pulled over.

The comedian took to Twitter following the incident to crack jokes about his jail time and share some choice words for the cop that pulled him over before expressing that he'd learned a lesson from his "wake-up call." Hopefully, next time, the Think Like a Man star will actually think before getting behind the wheel.

Lamar Odom

We still don't seem to know exactly what's going on between Odom and wife Khloe Kardashian (except that she's selling their house). But back in August, in the midst of their very public marital struggles, the NBA player was pulled over on the 101 Freeway in San Fernando Valley, Calif. for driving too slow. After reportedly failing failed multiple field sobriety tests, Odom was arrested and taken to jail. Such dirty business, Odom is the one Kardashian-related celebrity we don't want to keep up with.

Jenna Jameson

Jameson recently jumped back into the public eye by announcing that she's returning to porn to "feed her kids." But, back in April, the returning porn star reportedly assaulted an unknown victim during some early celebrations for her 39th birthday. The victim put her on citizen's arrest before the police could report to the scene and Jameson was cited for battery before being released. Talk about an unhappy ending for an unhappy birthday.

Farrah Abraham

It's been a busy 12 months for Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham. Not only did the Abraham release her own sex tape, but she was also arrested for a DUI in Omaha, Neb. in March. According to the police report, Abraham was pulled over for swerving on the road and blew a .147 on the police-administered breathalyzer test, nearly twice the legal limit. Seems things have gotten a bit too real for the reality TV star.

Justin Bieber

While visiting Brazil, Bieber attempted to add "graffiti artist" to his resume, tagging buildings in Rio de Janeiro (when he wasn't seen exiting brothels, that is). The singer — who has had a troublesome 2013 — wasn't technically arrested for his stint, but he was charged with vandalism. Instead of painting on the walls, Justin, you might want to paint a better picture of yourself.

Miguel

In August, the Grammy-nominated singer was pulled over by police in Los Angeles for speeding, tinted windows, and a DUI. Officers reported that they smelled alcohol on Miguel at the time he was pulled over, and, after taking a breathalyzer test and blowing over the legal limit, Miguel was arrested and held on $15,000 bail. Good thing he didn't injure anyone in the process — he leaves that for his concerts.

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth

Reese Witherspoon has been and probably will always be America's sweetheart... but not in the eyes of Georgia's police officers. Back in April, the Oscar winner's CAA agent husband, Jim Toth, was pulled over for a DUI in Atlanta. Witherspoon followed up his arrest by confronting the arresting officer, who handcuffed the actress after she failed to follow his polite requests that she remain in the couple's car.

Unfortunately to the actress, videos of her acting up surfaced shortly after reports were published, showing the actress arguing with officers and famously asking them if they knew who she was. The couple were arrested and charged with a DUI and disorderly conduct. Toth was required to complete community service, while Witherspoon paid a fine for her behavior and released an embarrassed statement apologizing for her actions. Sweet the Sweet Home Alabama star certainly is not.
