Jen Doesn't Do Social Media Because It's Stressful

by Nicole Pomarico

Remember that time Jennifer Aniston took over Living Proof's Instagram page and the internet exploded? Since social media first became a thing, my favorite member of the Friends cast has been largely absent from Twitter and Instagram, which is a bummer, since I'm actually interested in what she's eating for breakfast. I always assumed Aniston didn't bother with sharing her life in 140 characters or less because she was far too busy having a successful career and being beautiful with Justin Theroux, but as it turns out, there's an actual reason she avoids sharing her every thought. According to what she told People, Aniston stays off of social media because it stresses her out.

And if you ask the 46-year-old, between the stress and the fact that constant access to the internet might be harmful for kids, she's opting out. If you're just as puzzled as I am about why anyone would choose not to post filtered photos of their coffee on a regular basis, Aniston explained it this way:

I was so stressed out [while posting for Living Proof]. I was like these Kardashians. This is a career! You start to get so self-conscious. Kids aren't speaking to each other anymore. I was with friends of ours from Vermont and their two kids don't have an iPhone or an iPad. They were 9 and 12 and were the most interesting young adults. Seeing other kids on their [phones] all the time, it makes me sad.

Even if social media can be stressful sometimes, it's totally worth it — and there are plenty of reasons Aniston should give it a shot.

1. She can keep up with her friends

All her pals are on Instagram: Reese Witherspoon, Chelsea Handler, Drew Barrymore... There's just no easy way to keep up with Instagram posts if you don't have an account on the site. Besides, isn't it a pain when you post a photo of your friend and you can't tag her? Total #FirstWorldProblems.

2. She'd post amazing throwback photos

From the Friends set, obviously. There are probably some amazing ones of her with Courteney Cox in her private collection that the world has never seen, and frankly I can't believe she would want to withhold them from us after all the Friends our generation has binge-watched. We need to see them, Aniston!

3. She could promote Living Proof

Even though a haircare brand that Aniston, the queen of great hair, owns basically advertises itself.

4. She can post more photos of her dogs

Seriously, they're adorable.

5. She can follow the Kardashians

In the same interview with People where she disclosed her true feelings about social media, she also admitted she's a little obsessed with the Kardashians. You cannot call yourself a Kards fan without following all of them on Instagram, Aniston. You are missing so much!

6. She can document all her good hair days via selfies

Tutorials wouldn't hurt, either. Hint hint.
