What Your Fav 'TVD' BFFs Say About Your Bestie

by Kelly Schremph

On a show like The Vampire Diaries, it's easy to find yourself getting caught up in the romantic aspect of it all. Cliques start to form. You're either a Delena 'shipper or a Stelena supporter. You're either Team Klaroline or Team Steroline. And it's that kind of passion that makes helps to make this series so popular. However, I think it's also just as important to not overlook this show's greatest attribute: the everlasting friendships that exist underneath all of the love-lorn drama. These characters share a special bond with each other that keeps us coming back for more. But, just like anything else, everyone has a favorite. The only question is, what do your favorite Vampire Diaries BFFs says about you and your own bestie?

I mean, think of all that these characters have been through together throughout the course of this series. Some of them have died (on more than one occasion) only to later be brought back to life (on more than one occasion). Then there are those who have been forced to adjust to supernatural transformations of either the vampire, werewolf, or even hybrid variety. Basically, a lot has happened to these Mystic Falls residents, so it's not all that surprising that a few epic ride-or-die friendships have popped up as a result. (Hey, when you experience yet another near-death situation with someone, it tends to bond you for life.)

But, do you relate more to a Elena and Bonnie-type friendship or are you and your BFF more like Damon and Alaric? And, if so, what does that mean? Well, that's what we're here to find out.

Stefan & Caroline

Your friendship is as solid as they come. You've seen each other at your best and at your very worst, yet it's only managed to make your bond all the more stronger because of it. Being around them is like being around family. It feels safe and constant, and something you can never imagine going without.

Damon & Stefan

Your BFF is more than likely either a sibling or close cousin. You both value the importance of family over everything else and feel as though you know each other inside and out. (Probably because you've known each other since birth.) But that also means you've experienced your fair share of fighting as well, so your bond tends to run either really hot or really cold. Basically, you're like a Katy Perry song. And, that's never a bad thing.

Elena & Bonnie

The two of you shared a lunch in elementary school and have pretty much been best friends ever since. You don't need words to communicate how you're feeling. At this point you've both developed a sixth sense about each other. They say high school friendships rarely last, but you've proven to be the exception, not the rule. Odds are you'll still be just as close 50 years from now.

Alaric & Damon

On the outside you may look like just a pair of drinking buddies, but on the inside you have a deep and mutual respect for one another that makes you their first call (or vice-versa) when a crisis strikes. You're always there for each other with a shoulder (and bottle of bourbon) to cry on.

Elena & Caroline

This may have started out as more of a surface-level friendship, given that you've dated each other's exes at one point or another. But, over time you've come to realize just how much you depend on one another. You may never be best friends, but you'll also never want to be without each other, regardless of who is dating who.

Damon & Bonnie

It's not a friendship you ever expected, but now that it's happened, you can't ever imagine going without it. You've literally been to hell and back together, which means you understand each other in a way others simply can't. This friendship may be a late bloomer, but you're in it for the long haul.

Matt & Tyler

You have a hard time getting close to people on a different level than just "hanging out." You probably only see each other a few times a year for class reunions and holidays, and when you do it's pretty much just made up of small talk. But, you share a lot of history together, so that bond will always remain special to you, even if it's long-distance.

Caroline & Bonnie

You originally began hanging out because you shared a common friend, but now that you've gotten to know each other your friendship has become its own separate entity. We're talking friendship bracelet-level status here. There's just no going back from that.

Enzo & Damon

The two of you may look great in selfies together, but outside of that this friendship is pretty much DOA. Sorry.

Stefan & Lexi

You are each other's rock and help keep yourselves grounded during your darkest hours. And, while you may deliver some tough love from time to time, you also never laugh as hard when you're around anyone else. That's a rare combination of honesty and fun. Cherish it. Because it could be taken away from you in the blink of an eye. (RIP, Lexi.)

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go re-watch all of these amazing friendship scenes. BRB.
