9 Lyrics That Show Kanye Is Excited To Have A Son

by Emily Lackey

Finally finally FINALLY, the day has arrived: Kim Kardashian announced the gender of her second baby, which means this day almost the best day ever (coming in close behind the day the baby is actually born, the day it was announced that she was pregnant, and the day that the first picture of the new bundle and joy is released because OH MAN I CAN’T WAIT). And, just in case you missed it in your newsfeed, let me be the one to break the news to you: Kardashian and Kanye West are having a boy. Now, not only do the American royalty have an heir, they will have a spare. Kardashian, who announced her pregnancy last month, is an estimated four months along, which means we are almost halfway there people! And a son is apparently what the two parents have been hoping and dreaming for.

So, what can we expect for the next few months while we wait? Probably a few hit singles from West, who will hopefully continue to pour his heart out to his unborn son in his lyrics. You see, the sweetest part in all of this is that he’s already been writing and rapping about his son for years now. So, if you’re wondering how West is feeling about having a son, look no further.

The songs the rapper has already penned to his unborn son prove not only what an awesome dad he is, but just how he is feeling about having a boy.

1. He’ll Let Him Be His Own Person

“How's your son? / He make the team this year? / Aw th-, they said he wasn't tall enough?”

In “Family Business,” West sings about his family and his love for them, but he also shows the lessons he has learned from them, like not worrying about unrealistic expectations. Something he’s undoubtedly excited to share with his own son.

2. He’ll Teach Him Manners

"And I’ll never let my son have an ego / He’ll be nice to everyone, wherever we go."

When Kanye West and Jay-Z penned the song “New Day,” they both were childless and writing to their unborn sons. Funny, then, that both of them went on to have daughters! But, now that West is having a boy, I can only imaging these lyrics ring even more true.

3. He’ll Teach Him About Relationships

"And I’ll never let him leave his college girlfriend / And get caught up with the groupies in the whirlwind."

Gotta love a father who teaches his kids the importance of commitment rather than the pleasure of being adored.

4. He Wants Him to Be a Good Person

"See, I just want him to have an easy life / Not like Yeezy life, just want him to be someone people like."

I can’t think of anything sweeter to want for your son: not fame, not money, just to be a nice person that people like. So adorable.

5. He Wants Him to Respect Women (and Himself)

"And I’ll never let him ever hit a strip club / I learned the hard way, that ain’t the place to get love."

You know West will steer his son in the direction of happiness and respect, for himself and for others.

6. He Can’t Wait to Give Him a Better Life Than He Had

"Took me 26 years just to find my path / My only job is cut the time in half."

It’s clear that West wants a better life for his son than he had, and, like any good dad, knows it’s his job to help him find his path, whatever that might be.

7. He’s Super Excited for All the Bonding Time

"I just wanna take ya to a barber / Bondin’ on charters, all the shit that I never did."

Don’t you just love how sincere these lyrics are? I am seriously KVELLING.

8. He’ll Show Him How to Be a Man

"Look a man dead in his eyes so he know you talk truth / When you speak it, give your word, keep it."

You know he’s going to raise a good man, one who has learned from his father’s mistakes. Like, um, maybe don’t go around interrupting acceptance speeches?

9. He Wants to Be Real with Him

“No you’re not perfect but you’re not your mistakes.”

GAH what an amazing thing to teach his son. As if I didn’t want to be a Kardashian enough before, now I seriously want to be one of their offspring.
