Inspiring Hilary Lyrics To Remind You To Breathe

by Kelsie Gibson

Hilary Duff is finally making her way back into the music industry, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Last week, the teen pop icon released her much anticipated album, Breathe In. Breathe Out., and, I must admit, I was pretty pleased with the final product. I obviously wasn't the only fan, as her album became number one on iTunes less than 24 hours after its release. But her reviews aren't the only upbeat part of the album. In true Duff form, each song is equally catchy and uplifting. Although the music gives us the classic former Disney star sound we all know and love, this time, the lyrics are much more mature.

In the past few years, the singer/actress/mom has certainly had a lot on her plate what with mothering her adorable son Luca and her most recent separation from husband, Mike Comrie, but Duff is making the best out of her situations by turning them all into some amazing music. Seriously, if you thought "So Yesterday" was the perfect breakup song, just wait until you hear her new track, "Breathe In. Breathe Out."

Check out some of her most inspiring lyrics from her new album.

"One In A Million"

Lyric: I'm one in a million / And you're going down without me / You're wishing you had someone like me.

When you're feeling low and down, this uplifting track reminds us all that we are all worthy of love.

"Breathe In. Breathe Out."

Lyric: And when I'm cold at night / I know that I'll survive / Until I feel alright / I'm gonna fake it.

I honestly think this is my favorite track on the album. Sometimes, when life gets to be too much to handle, you simply need to just take a moment and breathe. It may not be today or tomorrow, but, eventually, all your worries will be "So Yesterday."

"Lies"

Lyric: And, baby, all my time that you've wasted / I'll find a way to reclaim it / I think I see the sun.

Just like the title suggests, Duff is done with the lies. Instead of getting mad, she's finding a way to pick up the pieces of a broken relationship and move on.

"Arms Around A Memory"

Lyric: You're reaching for a hand that's in the past / And beaches where the sand has turned to glass / Your television life couldn't channel this love.

For one, the wordplay in this song is incredible. This song is hauntingly sad as it reflects on a past relationship that is now simply that: in the past.

"Stay In Love"

Lyric: Two birds sitting / And the air is all we got / Baby I love you / But we need to break up.

Sometimes love isn't a good enough reason to stay if all you do is cause each other more harm than good.

"Brave Heart"

Lyric: And we both tried, but that's just life / And now come to an end / The tears have dried, made up my mind / And know I'm ready to begin.

Sometimes in life, you just have to put on a brave face, pack up your bags and start over again.

"Tattoo"

Lyric: Running in my bloodstream / These scars are the way that you loved me / I guess that you had to leave a tattoo / To remind me.

I love how this song takes a new spin on love being like a tattoo. Even though we want to forget, our past mistakes are a part of who we are, just like a tattoo. Leave it to Hilary Duff to educate and inspire us while giving us feel good music to dance to.
