When Will 'Guardians Of the Galaxy' Be On Netflix?

It was recently announced that the sequel to last year's Marvel megahit Guardians of the Galaxy was branded with a title: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 , and it's got me very excited for the new movie, even though I have no idea what we're supposed to do till May 5, 2017, its release date. I, for one, would love to be able to watch the first movie again and again online — but when is Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Netflix? The movie is already available on Bluray and DVD, but for those who have a need for instant streaming gratification, it's not possible; the blockbuster is not yet on the site. How are we supposed to get our fix of Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax and, of course, our favorite smart-ass rebel, Star-Lord in the meantime?
Well, if you live in Australia, you might not have this concern. For everyone else, though, Guardians' streaming release might still be awhile — no Netflix release date for the film has been locked down. In the meantime, as you wait for the movie to come on streaming and for its great-sounding sequel to get released (according to Cinema Blend, when Chris Pratt heard Gunn's pitch for the story, he was brought to tears), here are some titles that are currently streaming on Netflix that can help fill that GOTG void:
1. Parks and Recreation starring Chris Pratt
Arguably one of the best sitcoms of our time, Parks and Recreation gifted us with Pratt's Andy Dwyer, the doofus with a heart of gold. Marathon it and fall in love with Pratt and the whole show again.
2. Star Trek Into Darkness starring Zoe Saldana
Saldana, who plays badass assassin Gamora, is probably the only one on the GOTG cast who has space travel experience — so to speak. Watch her as the equally badass Uhura in J.J. Abrams's Star Trek follow-up.
3. Silver Linings Playbook starring Bradley Cooper
Cooper isn't furry as his GOTG character Rocket Raccoon in the David O'Russell film, but he is just as brash and foul-mouthed — and he does it so well that he snagged an Academy Award nomination for his performance.
4. The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption starring David Bautista
If you need an excuse to just gawk at Bautista's biceps, here's your chance.
5. xXx starring Vin Diesel
Diesel's character in this action flick isn't as adorable as Groot, but he speaks more than three words at a time. So that's a good thing... right?
6. Gilmore Girls starring Sean Gunn
Sean Gunn, the director's brother, plays Kraglin in GOTG and was the onset Rocket Raccoon. Meaning, he was in the green unitard standing in for the furry creature. He's best known, though, for playing the eccentric Kirk on Gilmore Girls. But c'mon — did you really need an excuse to watch the CW show?
7. Super directed by James Gunn
If anything, watch Gunn's first foray into superhero movies with this irreverent indie starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page. It's quite brilliant and it echoes the humor of GOTG — but it's more "adult." A lot more "adult."
There is plenty on Netflix to help cure that hunger for Guardians of the Galaxywhile you wait for it to arrive on the site. If you manage to get through this list, you can always purchase the soundtrack, "Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.1" and play it on repeat. That should also do the trick, or at least help ease the pain.
