Matt Damon Has A Ponytail Now, So What Do His Many Characters Think About It? (Mr. Ripley Is Totally On Board)

The older I get, the more I realize I know that I know nothing. Which is why when things happen in the universe that I don't understand, I try to just accept them as they come and avoid asking questions. Questions like: Why does Matt Damon have a ponytail? And follow-up question: Why do I like it?

That's right, friends. Matt Damon has stepped out with a full, tawny ponytail sprouting right out of the back of his very own head. The 44-year-old debuted his new 'do at a press conference for The Great Wall in China, with a very casual plaid shirt. While I would have liked to see what a Matt Damon man bun would have looked liked, it seems he has skipped that step and let things flow much more freely. And he looks quite pleased with himself.

While I know that his buddy Ben Affleck is certainly somewhere feeling emotionally affected by this — he's tender right now, with his divorce and all — what would Matt Damon's characters think of his new hairstyle? He's played a lot of roles, but none I know of sporting a ponytail. And none I can picture even wanting to attempt a ponytail...

Jason Bourne From The Bourne Trilogy

"Who are you? How do I know I can trust you?"

Linus Caldwell From Oceans 11 Movies

"You look like a dirty little thief, Damon."

Will Hunting From Good Will Hunting

He definitely does not like them apples.

Benjamin Mee From We Bought A Zoo

That is truly one brave ponytail, Matt Damon. There's no denying that.

Collin Sullivan From The Departed

Absolute, unbridled, expletive-filled rage. Collin Sullivan has no time for ponytails.

Tom Ripley From The Talented Mr. Ripley

"Now that's a damn good disguise."
