Why Did Kourtney & Scott Break Up?

by Lisa Fogarty

By now, you've probably heard the devastating news: Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick have reportedly broken up. If you've been a keen observer to their mad world lately, you've probably put two and two together and come up with the following conclusion for as to why they split up: Disick has been repeatedly hurting Kardashian in ways many women wouldn't put up with and the chickens have finally come home to roost. Rumors about trouble between the couple have been brewing for months now, usually about how his substance abuse, partying ways, and continued absence from family life have been forcing the 36-year-old reality star to question the future of their relationship.

It sounds like Kardashian finally decided it's not worth her time or energy to continue pursuing 32-year-old Lord Disick, whom she has dated for nine years and, sadly, her decision to leave him coincides with photos showing Disick canoodling on a Monaco beach with ex-girlfriend and stylist Chloe Bartoli. Jerky move on his part, for sure. Did he really not think the photos would get back to his partner? Or were they already broken up by then? Let's not pretend another woman is the reason for their split; Kardashian and Disick have been slowly in the process of breaking up for some time now and that's been evidenced on many an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Kardashian is probably the most private sibling in her family, so don't expect to read an exclusive in which she reveals everything about their relationship. With that said, here's some of the evidence I've gathered that proves Disick has been a less-than-model boyfriend and that sheds some light on why they may have broken up. Keep in mind, a lot of this is just rumors, but much of this information doesn't come as a surprise if you watch KUWTK:

  • After Kardashian told Disick she was pregnant with Reign, he left for a work event in Cancun, reports Radar Online. When he returned to California, he reportedly called her to say he was safe and in the same state, but didn't go home to visit her.
  • Kardashian may not be a perfect partner, but she has attempted to empathize with Disick. Here they are in his Long Island, New York, hometown after Reign's birth — his misplaced anger is evident in the way he calls her a "nasty f--k." Not cool.
  • Kardashian may have been using her using her Instagram to subtly express her frustrations with Disick and their relationship for months.

A message for Disick?

And her most recent photo — I'm sure this is just a coincidence.

I'm sad for Kardashian and Disick and I hope they can somehow find their way back to one another because I really do feel they make a solid couple — or did for a while there, at least. But, as evidenced not just in tabloid rumors but on KUWTK, he clearly has issues to iron out on his own and must do so before there is any talk of them making their relationship work.
