Kylie Jenner Proves Top Knots Are Summer Perfect

The hot, sweaty summer sun, combined with a day filled with shopping and errands, calls for hairstyling at its most functional and fuss-free — for those of us out of the celebrity spotlight, at least. Which is why Kylie Jenner wearing a top knot on Instagram yesterday — a photo in which Jenner rocks a perfectly executed 'do during a laid-back shopping trip for shoes and handbags — was just so god darn refreshing. Wearing knee-length, distressed-look denim boy shorts and a simple lace-trimmed black vest, accessorized with chunky jewelry, smoky eyes, and an on point deep red lip, Jenner proved to the world that minimal hair and off-duty clothing doesn't have to mean drab and boring.

This isn't the first time that Jenner has sported a top knot, either. The 17-year-old model and mini-Kardashian is regularly spotted flying the faithful top knot flag while out and about in L.A. She finds a myriad of ways to switch it up or down to suit any occasion — from the casual half-up top knot with jam-jar sunglasses, a striped Breton top, and a carefree glance, to a razor sharp, slickly fashion forward undershave in aid of her 17th birthday last year.

So if the trusty top knot regularly makes an appearance in your hair-drobe, fear not! Jenner is living proof that donning a top knot doesn't have to equal throwing your style credentials out of the window, or sitting at home in your jammies binge-watching the new series of Orange Is the New Black... although that's perfectly fine, too.
