See A Throwback Pic From The First 'PLL' Scene

by Maggie Malach

Get ready to experience some serious nostalgia, Pretty Little Liars fans! I took a break from poring over Pretty Little Liars theories to obsess over one seriously throwback photo of the cast. Yep, the image shared by showrunner I. Marlene King on Instagram captures the five core cast members on the set of the first scene in the first season of Pretty Little Liars . Let the good times roll!

In the Instagram picture, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Sasha Pieterse, Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale are huddled on a couch with some of the crew members. Want to know why they're wearing thick down coats? According to King, it was filmed in Vancouver!

Of course, fans of the show recognize that it's the famous barn scene in which Alison DiLaurentis goes missing. In other words, it's the pivotal scene that sets the entire series in motion. (Little did we know the insane plot twists that were to come!)

The Pretty Little Liars pilot aired on June 8, 2010, which means the photo was clearly taken before then. However, there are some key moments from that barn scene itself which delightfully earmark just how long ago it was filmed. For instance, the song playing during the opening of the scene is (appropriately) “Don’t Trust Me” by 3OH!3.

Also, the Liars themselves seem totally different. Not only is Aria rocking her signature pink highlights from the era, but all five girls are super giggly. Perhaps it's whatever they're drinking out of that plastic cup, or maybe it has something to do with the fact that four of them haven't been introduced to "A" yet. (Also, if the actresses seem so young, it's because they are. Although Bellisario was 25 years old, Pieterse was only 14.)

You can bask in all the glorious throwback vibes by checking out King's photo above and you can re-watch the opening scene from the Pretty Little Liars pilot in the video below.

Rewatch, anyone?
