How It Works

Starting with the basics, each kit will come with your mouth tray, accelerator light, and three pens that are prefilled with your whitening solution. While the gel-like formula uses the same active ingredient behind many in-office and at-home whitening treatments, the precision applicator lets you brush the gel directly onto your teeth to avoid the gum area, which can help minimize the risk of irritation. Further minimizing that risk is SmilePro’s accelerator light, which attaches to the mouth tray and features a red LED light setting to reduce gum inflammation, tooth sensitivity, and even bacteria. Then, there’s the blue LED light, which speeds up the bleaching process to allow the hydrogen peroxide gel to more effectively lift coffee, wine, and tobacco stains from teeth.

While there are multiple pieces in the kit, it was designed to be easy to use. After you brush your teeth with water to create a cleaner surface, grab one of the pens and brush the whitening gel onto the front of all your teeth. With the accelerator light attached, insert the tray into your mouth and press the power button to activate the rechargeable LED light. The lights will power off automatically after 10 minutes, but SmilePro notes that you can safely use the kit for 30 minutes each session. Once your 10 to 30 minutes are up, rinse your mouth (and clean the tray), and you’re all set.

You’re only meant to use the kit for seven consecutive days to get the best results (up to eight shades whiter), but the included pens give you 30 full treatments to cover your maintenance applications, too (you’ll want to do those once every two weeks).
