After Piers Morgan’s dramatic resignation from Good Morning Britain this month, fans have been eager to know who would be filling the controversial presenter’s shoes. On Friday morning’s show (March 26), the daytime show’s popular weatherman, Alex Beresford, filled the vacant presenting spot alongside Kate Garraway and viewers had a lot to say about it. Alex Beresford is currently trending on Twitter, with many praising (and defending) the daytime TV star, and here are the best comments.

GMB fans were divided over Beresford presenting the program after he got into a heated discussion with Piers Morgan on March 9 about the former presenter’s comments about Meghan Markle. The on-air altercation resulted in Piers Morgan storming offset and later resigning from Good Morning Britain altogether. ITV has yet to announce a permanent replacement for Piers Morgan, with Ben Shephard, Adil Ray, and Ranvir Singh also said to be in the running.

Meanwhile, Beresford said it was “good to be back” on the programme after taking a short break and celebrated his return by hula-hooping live on air.

Predictably, Twitter was alight with comments during the programme. Many came to Beresford’s defence from trolls and angry Piers Morgan fans, praising the weatherman for his presenting – and hula-hooping – skills.
