Dunkin’s Super Bowl Ad Spoofs Friends, Good Will Hunting, & More
“We were on a break”... three decades later.

For its latest Super Bowl commercial, Dunkin’ is bringing it back to 1995.
During Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, the coffee brand debuted an ad in the style of a lost-footage tape of a “much better version of Good Will Hunting” — a sitcom called Good Will Dunkin’ starring “a real genius in the lead.” Because this is Dunkin’, that genius is Ben Affleck, spoofing the lead role originally played by his bestie and writing partner Matt Damon.
What follows is an all-out nostalgia feast (complete with a laugh track). In addition to Affleck as a genius Dunkin’ employee who arranges Munchkins in a Fibonacci sequence, Jason Alexander and Ted Danson — from Seinfeld and Cheers, respectively — play his colleagues. Jasmine Guy, Matt LeBlanc, Alonso Ribeiro, and Jaleel White, alumni of A Different World, Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Family Matters, appear as patrons of the coffee shop.
At one point, Affleck (er, Will) tries out his best Joey Tribbiani-inspired “How you doin’?” But when Ribeiro shows him a throwback picture of Jennifer Aniston, he proves himself more of a Ross, crying, “We’re on a break!”
Moments later, Aniston herself knocks on the window in a Rachel Green-approved overall ensemble. “You like donuts? Well, this is my new boyfriend,” she says, pulling Tom Brady into frame. “How ya like these nuts?”
The hilarious cameo (a final nod to Good Will Hunting) concludes the spot, which had fans buzzing online. Several declared it the best commercial of the evening, while others were simply gobsmacked by the talent involved. As one user put it on X (formerly Twitter), Dunkin’ “really threw the budget at this one with all those names.”
Dunkin’ previously teased that it was cooking up something good with a behind-the-scenes pitch meeting between Affleck, Aniston, and LeBlanc. “What’s old is new, what’s cringe is good, what’s up is down,” Affleck tells the Friends co-stars, before going on a spiel about how Dunkin’ always believed in him.
If You’re Craving Iced Coffee...
Online, Dunkin’ had more sweet treats in store — selling ‘90s-inspired merch and giving away 1.995 million free iced coffees (any size) on Feb. 9 to guests who use the code GOODWILLDUNKIN in their Dunkin’ app. The very big and specific number is a nod to 1995, the year the chain began advertising its iced coffee.
