Alright people, so I have to admit something. Although I grew up in Connecticut, I just never connected with the New England Patriots. I know they’re supposed to be my team, but for some reason, I just never got onboard. So, despite the Patriots nabbing a spot in the Super Bowl, I can’t help but root for the other team. Which is why throwing an Atlanta Falcon Super Bowl Party is something up my alley for Super Bowl LI.

OK, OK — so I’ve never been to Atlanta, but doing some research on the city and the types of foods they eat, I kind of want to take a trip right away. They have this delicious place called The Varsity with dreamy looking chili dogs and burgers, chicken, and waffles that are basically shaped like corn dogs but look ah-mazing, and of course, all the barbecue I could ever hope for.

Oh right, we’re supposed to be talking about football.

In my defense, I feel like a party really isn’t a party without the food. Of course, the Super Bowl is always a big deal every year, but honestly, I love to go to Super Bowl parties because, one, I get to wear the one football jersey I own (it’s a Giant’s jersey from Super Bowl XLVI just to make my Pats friends really mad), eat a ton of finger foods, and cry at how adorable all of the commercials are. I guess you could say it’s one of my favorite days of the year.

Anyhow — if you’re a huge Atlanta Falcons football fan, or you’re in my shoes and just want to root for any other team but the New England Patriots, then here’s how to throw the best Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl party your town has ever seen.

Beer From Sweetwater Brewing Company

If you’re going to have an Atlanta-themed party, then you better have some of those Atlanta brews. Sweetwater has a famous 420 Extra PaleAle that may be found at a Binny’s near you. If you’re in the Atlanta area, then I totally recommend checking out some of their other local brews.

Sweet Tea Bourbon Cocktails

If you’re not feeling the whole beer thing, then make a batch of some sweet tea with some bourbon! You can try out this recipe on Joy the Baker. Or, for a non-alcoholic version, try out this sweet tea from The Kitchn.

Wear Atlanta Falcons Gear

OK, = here’s an insider tip: I found this really comfy looking fleece top at K-Mart for only $34.99 — and they have so much more! You can get a pair of striped leggings, a short sleeve shirt, a long sleeve shirt, socks, a hat, slippers, and if applicable, a onesie jersey for your sister’s baby.

Chicken & Waffles

Okay since I’m still thinking about those chicken and waffles, I think it’s safe to say that your Atlanta Falcon’s party needs a huge batch of these from Tori Avery.

Touch Football Game

Now, I know a bunch of us live for that half time show, but if there are some of those far and few out there who would rather chow down or play a game, then why not have a little game of touch football yourself? Pick up one of these Atlanta Falcons footballs from Wal-Mart for only $28.82 to keep the game Atlanta Falcons festive!

Chocolate Popsicles

OK, so there’s this place in Atlanta called the King of Pops that’s probably your city’s equivalent to doughnuts or cupcakes. The most talked about popsicle is the Chocolate Sea Salt popsicle from King of Pops. So in honor of this chocolate popsicle, try these Fudgesicle Brownie Pops by I Am Food Blog!

Decorate With Pillows And Blankets

Atlanta Falcons Throw Blanket, $17.99, Wal-Mart

Atlanta Falcons Toss Pillow, $8.87, Wal-Mart

Since there’s a bunch of you cozying up around the TV during the game, you’re probably going to need some extra blankets and pillows. And, let’s be honest, I doubt you want to hang streamers or anything for the party — so this is an easy way to be festive while not putting a whole bunch of effort into it!

Guess The Score: Winner Takes Home Prizes!

Before the game even starts, a fun way to make watching the game enjoyable is having each person guess what the score of the game is going to be. Write up the score on a board somewhere (kind of like a sealed promise,no changes throughout), and whoever has the closest score wins that Atlanta Falcons blanket, pillow, and the football from the party!
