David & Victoria Beckham Renewed Their Vows

Since the two started dating in 1997, David and Victoria Beckham have stood out as one of Hollywood's sweetest couples. But even they occasionally have their problems, as David Beckham explained in a recent interview with BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. The couple has struggled like any other, but they're only getting stronger, as Beckham revealed that he and Victoria recently renewed their wedding vows. As the athlete explained, "we know each other better than anybody," and so they found it fitting to take this step in their relationship. How sweet is that?

Beckham described the vow renewal as the complete opposite of he and Victoria's lavish 1999 wedding, an event he mocked by joking, “I even had a top hat in purple. What was I thinking? I looked like the guys out of Dumb and Dumber.” This time around, the ceremony "was a lot more private, about six people there in our house."

Beckham admitted that though the couple's life together may seem perfect, they go through tough times like any other married pair. "Of course. That's part of relationships. It's part of marriages. It's part of having children. It's part of having responsibilities,” he said. The Beckhams have four children — Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper — and they've been married for long enough that they're bound to have encountered issues. But, as Beckham explained, “We're very respectful of our life and when we do go through tough times we work through them as a family, as a unit.”

It's great that Beckham admits that being in a serious relationship for a long period of time is not easy, but that despite any issues, he and Victoria continue to work together to push past difficulties. Their vow renewal is the perfect example of this dedication to their relationship and family. As Becks put it, "We're a strong family unit. We've got strong parents. We were brought up with the right values. Of course you make mistakes over the years, and we all know marriage is difficult at times. It's about working through it.”
