Hear Eddie Redmayne Narrating 'Fantastic Beasts'

by Emma Oulton

Audible's all-time most pre-ordered audiobook is finally here: the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them audiobook narrated by Eddie Redmayne has been released, along with the print and ebook versions. This book is part of the Hogwarts Library collection, originally published in 2001 to raise money for Comic Relief. It's now got a brand new cover, and it's back to raise even more money for Comic Relief, as well as for J.K. Rowling's charity Lumos.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, written by Newt Scamander in 1927, is one of the textbooks that Harry had to buy before attending Hogwarts. It provided the inspiration for the Fantastic Beasts movie franchise, in which Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander himself, the Magizoologist who discovered many of the fantastic beasts of the wizarding world. Eddie Redmayne has now reprised his role by narrating Scamander's famous A–Z of animals, and teaching us all about creatures from the Thunderbird to the Manticore. This book is distinct from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay, which is the screenplay of the feature film.

Listen to Eddie Redmayne talking about some of Newt Scamander's favorite magical creatures here, courtesy of Pottermore, and then I guarantee you'll want to rush out and buy both the print and audio versions of this iconic textbook.
