Ghost Rider's Fate Is Revealed On 'Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

Eric McCandless/ABC

As soon as Coulson's team masters one kind of inter-dimensional travel, another springs up. Hopefully, the team's newest ally can help them out of a sticky situation. Ghost Rider returns on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., chain whip in hand and looking much more world-weary than the last time we saw the fiery anti-hero. Robbie Reyes is back!

He arrives through a portal that looks a heck of a lot like the one in S.T.A.R. Labs on The Flash, but that's of no consequence. Thankfully, Talbot's troops were gone before that happened. Unlike Yo-Yo, who connects to the Framework only to find it in total dystopian chaos, Robbie is not plunged into peril. It is quite convenient that Coulson needed to catch May up on (and remind the audience) how Robbie uncertainly left the scene in the first place.

Why return now? Where has he been? What has he learned? What happened to Eli? If Ophelia ever stops taking the jilted lover stereotype to new terrifying heights, can she use the Darkhold to help him out and free him from the Ghost Rider curse? There are so many questions surrounding his sudden reappearance. It'll be interesting to see how these two halves of the season converge — and also fair to Robbie. I'm not sure his whole story got told.

One other thing is certain. The team on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. need all the help they can get. Ghost Rider may have unfinished business, but the LMD situation has gotten out of hand, and even haunted allies can make a big difference.
