Hayley & Elijah Reunite In 'The Originals' Season 4 Premiere

Annette Brown/The CW

It's been five years since the Mikaelson family was brought down by Marcel and Vincent, but the Season 4 Originals premiere, "Gather up the Killers," brought them one step closer to a comeback. Hayley has spent the last five years raising Hope and tracking down the seven werewolf packs needed to make a cure Kol and Elijah from Marcel's deadly hybrid bite. And, in the Season 4 premiere, she finally collected all the ingredients. Hayley and Elijah reunited on The Originals, but Klaus is still being held captive by Marcel.

It turns out that tracking down seven werewolf packs is harder than it sounds, and doing that all while raising a magical daughter is even harder. Luckily, Hayley caught a break when she heard of the last remaining member of the seventh and final pack. With venoms from the seven werewolf packs, a cure for Freya's poison, and a witch to un-curse Rebekah, Hayley had all she needed to wake her family from their life-maintaining sleep. And when she did, it was like no time had passed. Before Elijah was bitten by Marcel, fans will recall that he and Hayley finally got together. And Haylijah fans will be happy to hear that five years apart hasn't changed their feelings. Hayley greeted a newly cured Elijah with a welcome home kiss. (Yay Haylijah!)

Of course, Hayley's success was all relying on one thing: that Klaus remain alive. Lucky for him, Marcel knows that all the Mikaelsons are tied to Klaus — he's the life force keeping them alive — and he doesn't want to kill Rebekah by killing Klaus. So, instead of killing him, Marcel is keeping Klaus magically (and literally) chained up in his old mansion. And, when Klaus' vampire enemies come looking for him, desperate for revenge, Marcel tells them he keeps Klaus alive for his blood (the only known antidote to werewolf venom).

Marcel might not want to kill Klaus yet, but with Elijah, Hayley, Freya, Kol, and Rebekah coming to New Orleans to get him back, who knows what Marcel will do.
