How Couples Really Feel About Popular Role-Playing Scenarios
Because we talk so much about dating apps, it can be easy to forget that sex apps are also really popular. And I'm not talking about hookup apps. I'm talking about apps that help you explore your sexuality. One of these is sexual couples app iPassion, which lets you and your partner explore and learn about each other, is really gaining steam. It's already used by one percent of the Danish population — and more than 10,000 Americans a month are following suit. The app looked into how we feel about role playing, to see which fantasies are the most popular.
And remember: if you're interested but have never done it before, it's totally OK to ease your way in. “I suggest take it slow and start with a mild version of the fantasy,” Dr. Dawn Michael, certified clinical sexologist, sexuality counselor, and author of My Husband Wont Have Sex With Me, tells Bustle. “Perhaps a guy has always wanted his wife to control him in bed, [so] maybe they start out with her telling him a few things that she wants him to do to her or vice versa.”
But what are people actually interested in doing in bed? Well, iPassion looked at over 40,000 users in the United States to find out exactly what kind of role play people are looking for — and I can tell you, it gets pretty kinky.
1Boss And Secretary
A classic situation and one, as iPassion points out, is easy to pull off because you probably already own the outfits. You can have strict roles or switch up, to get a taste of domination and submission. Four out of five couples on the app said they'd be be up for trying it.
2Lord And Servant
A bit like the boss and secretary situation but with a more BDSM twist. Only 19 percent of men and 26 percent of women said they would be against trying it, but if you're new to BDSM you may want to ease your way in.
3Police And Criminal
For fellow Law and Order buffs out there, the police and criminal scenario is an obvious choice. Interestingly, three out of four women said they'd want to be the criminal. Also: a great opportunity to use handcuffs.
OK, sure — plumbing and sex don't seem like natural bedfellows, except in really bad porn. In fact, a third of women said they don't find it sexy. But enough people liked it that it made the list, because pipes need to be cleaned.
5Strangers Who Meet At A Bar
Easy to do, lots of sexiness, and it requires you to go out in public really pulls you out of your comfort zone. Sounds great to me.
6Vampire And Victim
Whoa. I really wasn't expecting this. But apparently the Twilight effect is still in full swing. Though iPassion explains, "it’s very easy to see why 3 out of 5 people would like to act out this scenario as it entails danger, submission, mystery, a little pain and a lot of enjoyment".
Though only a third of women would be up for this compared to half of men (and it isn't my cup of tea), some folks are down for a Pretty Woman reenactment.
Role playing can be an easy way to spice up your sex life, so if you're curious it's time to mention it to your partner. So many people are interested and there are so many different options — you should be able to find a scenario that excites you both.
