Jennifer Lawrence's Skipped The 2017 Oscars Carpet

There are some celebrities whose red carpet outfits we wait for with baited breath, awards show after awards show. J. Law is certainly one of those celebs. Sadly, Jennifer Lawrence skipped the 2017 Oscars red carpet, and her keen sense of style was sorely missed.

It's not totally shocking that Lawrence would skip the Academy Awards this year, considering she wasn't up for any awards. She's also currently filming a movie in Budapest, according to the Daily Mail. There were plenty of amazing outfits on the carpet even without Lawrence, but she certainly would have been a welcome addition to the evening's festivities. Lawrence has been dubbed America's Sweetheart time and time again, and her fashion choices often demonstrate that, while she's earned that title with her charm, she's not afraid of a bit of edge. Last year, she wore a dramatic number with a layer of nude fabric beneath sheer black lace that tumbled into an elaborate cascade of ruffles. Her look, designed by Dior, stood out in a sea of more typical Oscar looks and earned her a place on many a best dressed list.

Lawrence's dark and glamorous dress was complimented by a fresh, natural makeup look and face framing platinum layers.

She tends to opt for simple designs that are all about fit and detail, and that's exactly what she showed up wearing for Hollywood's biggest night of the year in 2016.

For another recent appearance to promote her movie Passengers, Lawrence wore a frothy white strapless number adorned with a bold red heart. We didn't get a new red carpet moment from Lawrence on Sunday night, but at least we have the memories of her past looks to keep us sated until next time!
