When Kylie Jenner first launched her Lip Kits, they changed the way that people saw the beauty world. Here was a young celebrity putting not just her name but her entire career behind a duo of lip products. Now that she's a proven success in cosmetics, Kylie's going back to her beauty roots. According to a string of Instagram posts, Kylie Cosmetics is launching traditional bullet-shaped lipsticks. And the business choice proves that this brand is a beauty forced to be reckoned.
Jenner created Kylie Cosmetics in 2015, made the Lip Kit a well-known (and highly replicated) product in 2016, and worked to solidify its name in beauty in 2017. To round out the end of the year, Jenner has created a Silver Series for Kylie Cosmetics. As of Dec. 6, that means tradition, bullet-shaped lipsticks are on the way.
The unnamed product is described as a "traditional lipstick" with "highly pigmented and hydrating with a creamy satin finish." The product will be available in 20 different shades, ranging from mauves and browns to a classic red and even a purple. According to the Instagram account, the Silver Series Lipsticks will be available on Dec. 13 for $17 each.
Jenner also announced on her Instagram post that these classic lipsticks are the first of three new products to come this December.
There's nothing trendy or up-and-coming about this product. Instead, Jenner is proving that Kylie Cosmetics can do it all.
In the midst of the pregnancy rumors, Jenner could have easily decided to tease her social media fans with the true or false news. Instead, she's chosen to stay quiet — and create products. Her decision — and the product itself — proves just how seriously she's taking this multi-million dollar business.
According to Forbes, sources suggested Jenner's lip glosses may have earned up to seven figures in 2016 alone. Just to clarify, that's the lip glosses only. A rep for Kylie Cosmetics confirmed that the Gloss has actually earned upwards of eight figures, and that was in January of 2017. That, along with her other launches, puts Kylie Cosmetics on track to become a billion dollar company before the Lip Kit Queen turns 25.
Jenner could have easily kept going with her Kyliners, Kyshadows, and Kybrow Kits — the latter is trademarked, but has yet to arrive. Instead she went back to a classic product with a twist-up tube and no quirky name — so far, at least.
She's already given the people what they want, including glosses, the option to buy single lipsticks, different formulas of liquid lipsticks, and loose powder highlighters. Now she's proving that her brand is much more than just something trendy.
Traditional is not a word that people use often when talking about Jenner, which is was makes this move so great. She's proving to the world that she can turn Kylie Cosmetics into a brand that's much more than just a name. And, of course, that you never really know what she'll do next.
To no surprise, there are more products coming from Jenner in the month of December, and I'm willing to bet that they will be more classic products. Even if they aren't, one things for sure — they'll be best sellers.
Everything that Jenner creates flies off the virtual shelves, sometimes within just minutes of launching. Just to be safe, you should make sure that you alarm is set and your credit cards are ready, because these bullet lipsticks will likely follow the trend.
Say what you will about Jenner. She'll just let her products speak for her.
