Lane Bryant's New #ThisBody Campaign Has Arrived

by James Hale

Lane Bryant's newest campaign may spark a particularly body-inclusive movement. The Inspired by #ThisBody campaign branches off the plus size retailer's spate of #ThisBody ads by enlisting inspirational plus size women to share their thoughts about what #ThisBody means to them.

The classic black-and-white campaign launch video stars recording artist Lizzo, artist and poet Ashlee Haze, and ladies from plus size dance studio Pretty Big Movement. A press release from Lane Bryant says the campaign will roll out in stores, on social media channels, and on billboards and in magazines on Feb. 27.

One ad from the series has already been released — model and activist Denise Bidot's unretouched ad in the 2017 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Bidot's unretouched stretch marks are the first to grace the pages of SI.

"Inspired by #ThisBody is more than a campaign. It’s a movement – and an inspiration," said Lane Bryant Chief Marketing Officer Brian Beitler in the campaign press release. "Our purpose is to continue to shine a light on the power and influence of all women, to inspire her to share with the world that she is capable of anything: she can wear what she wants. Say what she wants. And do what she wants."

Fashion seen in the Inspired by #ThisBody campaign will be available in stores and online, a company rep said.

Upcoming appearances for Inspired by #ThisBody ads include Glamour and the March issue of Vogue magazine, where longtime Lane Bryant model Ashley Graham will star. Feb. 27 is also bringing the debut of the Prabal Gurung x Lane Bryant spring collection, so fans of the brand are sure to have a happy Monday.
