Madonna took to Instagram to post a few pictures while getting ready for the 2017 Met Gala. She posted a barefaced selfie a few hours before the red carpet, as she prepped her skin. But what about Madonn's 2017 Met Gala dress? As is always the case with The Material Girl, Madonna's 2017 Met Gala gown was head-turning and unusual. It was actually like a modern take on her signature look from the '80s — layers and gloves. Madonna was being a bit self-referential and it was totally appropriate.

Madge wore a punk rock, green and black camo dress, paired with over the elbow, black leather fingerless gloves, and layers upon layers of necklaces. The dress had some chain accoutrements, as well.

Say hello to Military Madge.

The gobs of "extras" defined the dress and the overall presentation. And because she is Madonna, she slayed it top to bottom. Since this year's Met Gala celebrated Comme des Garçons's Rei Kawakubo, Madge also paid homage to the designer's irreverent, edgy, and cocoon-like aesthetic with her outfit.

Her long, buttery blonde hair framed her face, with a cascade of waves falling loosely. It was a soft strand look for the singer and fashion icon.

Strike a pose, there's nothing to it.

The was some netting on the side, furthering that military chic vibe.

It was definitely a lot of look and it was also belted. But Madonna rocked it... because she's Madonna.

Here was Madonna in pre-battle mode, to paraphrase her Insta comment. Yeah, it was Met Gala pre-gaming.

Madonna looked stunning, with her loose waves, their volume, and black liner. It was a killer way to tease her fans, pop culture junkies, and fashion watchers about her ensemble.
