If you were feverishly following every moment of the 2016 Olympics, you're in luck. Former Olympian Nancy Kerrigan will join Dancing With The Stars' 24th season, according to early casting rumors, and, let's be real, she could actually win the Mirror Ball. It appears the producers of the hit reality competition show may have stumbled onto a hot trend in casting for future DWTS seasons when they struck gold — quite literally — with 2016 gymnastic Olympian and confirmed delightful human, Laurie Hernandez. Of course, nothing is confirmed as of yet, but I can't help but want to sit down and discuss this exciting possibility.

For some, it came as no surprise when Hernandez won the 23rd season of DWTS after establishing herself as a consistently high-caliber dancer on the show. It would seem there could be a correlation drawn between the physical demands and grace of gymnastics and dancing; the same, it could be argued, can be said of figure skating (Kerrigan's Olympic racket) and dancing.

There's a certain level of physical strength and grace that goes into figure skating, just as there is with ballroom dancing. Kerrigan, one of the foremost figure skaters in the world, won a bronze medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics and a silver medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics. Her place in Olympics history and her achievements denote a level of athletic prowess and accomplishment that would make her fierce DWTS competition.

She has kept a relatively low profile in the years following her retirement from figure skating in 1995. While she is no newbie to reality TV (she competed on Skating With Celebrities in 2006), this would be Kerrigan's first time competing for a trophy in ballroom dancing. It will be exciting not only to have her back in the spotlight, but to yet again flex her athletic prowess in a new and exciting competitive arena.

Kerrigan wouldn't be the only Olympian in competition for the Mirror Ball on the upcoming season of DWTS. The rumor of Kerrigan's participation followed quickly on the heels of the rumor that Olympic gymnast and Hernandez's former teammate Simone Biles would join Season 24 of DWTS, too. If true, then, boy, that is some stiff competition.
