Oprah & Reese Witherspoon's 'Vanity Fair' "Photoshopping" Led To Some Jokes From The Ladies Themselves

You know the incredibly talented, Oscar-winning Reese Witherspoon, right? And you've undoubtedly heard of the billionaire media mogul, and rumored presidential candidate Oprah Winfrey. But did you know that Witherspoon has three legs and Oprah has three hands? Well, technically, it's most likely a photoshopping error, but Oprah and Witherspoon appear to have extra extremities in their new photoshoot for Vanity Fair. Pretty weird, I know, but adding to the fun — the actors even jokingly acknowledged their third digits on social media. (Bustle reached out to Vanity Fair for comment on the apparent error but did not receive a response at the time of publication.)

Both Witherspoon and Oprah appear on the cover of the magazine's annual Hollywood Issue along with fellow actors, including Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Gal Gadot, Zendaya, Michael B. Jordan, Jessica Chastain, and more. The photos of the all-star ensemble were taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, and are quite stunning. However, when you start to look a little closer you'll notice that something's off. And by "off," it looks like Witherspoon and Oprah have non-human like characteristics, as in three legs or hands.

After users online first noticed the errors, a number of people shared their opinions on the Vanity Fair photos. Twitter user @leiascaptain pointed out the photoshop goof early in the morning on Thursday, Jan. 25, with a tweet saying, "im tryna figure out how many legs reese witherspoon’s got in here, it’s been bothering me for the last five minutes." Check out the photo below, and look careful at the star's legs.

Some argued that the mystery third leg was actually the lining of her dress, but other users on Twitter countered back with a close-up photo that featured red circles around all three of Witherspoon's legs.

The Legally Blonde (film editor: Anita Brandt Burgoyne) star responded to all of the talk about her third leg with a tweet, joking, "I guess everybody knows now...I have 3 legs. I hope you can still accept me for who I am." Witherspoon also refused to apologize for snuggling with Oprah, amid some people on Twitter also questioning whether or not Witherspoon was sitting on Oprah's lap in the photos.

However, as Twitter user @tnwhiskeywoman pointed out, it appears that Witherspoon was sitting on the arm of Oprah's chair, and not on the billionaire's lap.

But the story doesn't end there, because in an additional photo released by Vanity Fair it looks as though Oprah has three hands. The Selma (casting: Aisha Coley) producer seems to have two obvious hands placed on her knee and hip, and if you look at Witherspoon's mid-section it appears that Oprah has a third hand placed around her A Winkle in Time (director: Ava DuVernay) co-star's waist.

Following in Witherspoon's lead, Oprah also hilariously responded to the talk on Twitter about the Vanity Fair photo. The billionaire tweeted, "I accept your 3d leg. As I know you accept my 3d hand," along with three hand shaking emojis and a heart.

As other people have point out, right next to one of Witherspoon's legs is a blurb that reads, "and one retiring editor," which users on Twitter are finding to be a bit humorous considering the potential photoshop editing errors in the picture.

Witherspoon's third leg and Oprah's third hand seem to be an accidental photo editing error, but it's pretty cool that both of the Hollywood A-listers found humor in the picture and joked about it on social media. In addition to being smart and talented, clearly both of the stars have a great sense of humor too!
