When I think of Balmain, I think of Olivier Rousteing, the Kardashians, and Parisian haute couture. Something that doesn't necessarily come to mind? Lipstick. That's going to change though, because a Balmain x L'Oreal Lipstick collab is officially a thing. The brands announced Wednesday morning that they were teaming up on a collection of lipsticks, which are set to be released in September 2017, according to a L'Oreal brand representative.
As soon as the collection was announced, I had to find out what the lipsticks were going to look like. After all, Balmain head designer Olivier Rousteing has pretty much transformed the French fashion brand, and I knew a lipstick collab was sure to produce some interesting results.
Although neither brand has released too much information about the collection so far, both did post a teaser video on Instagram earlier Wednesday with a voiceover from Rousteing saying this collaboration is all about "bringing the couture to the cosmetic." Considering Rousteing will be helping design the packaging for the collection and shooting marketing photos and videos, I have a feeling that this collab is going to be a step in a new direction for L'Oreal. Check out what the brands have teased so far.
Although you can't see too much of the lipsticks so far, it looks like Rousteing isn't shying away from color.
Luckily, the designer shared this shot on his personal Instagram, and it gives you a better look at what the collection will include.
Although it looks like there's some classic shades in the collection, there are a few more outside-the-box ones as well.
If that picture of Rousteing with the lipsticks is any indication, this isn't going to be a small collection. And considering how popular Balmain is, I have a feeling it's going to go fast when it launches this spring. Stay tuned for more info about the collab.
