While we all have our personal preferences when it comes to our pubic hair, isn't something a lot of us really think about. It's either you groom it or you don't — you do you. What more? According to a relatively recent survey on Millennial grooming habits conducted by Cosmopolitan.com, most people say they maintain their pubic hair in some way, and a little over half say they feel more attractive when it's groomed. So while you might assume people today aren't feeling the bush as much as you'd hoped, new data from Millennial-centric adult entertainment site RedTube says otherwise. In fact, pubic hair searches in porn is becoming more popular.
“It’s one of those topics that people have always been fascinated by, and nowadays, seem to have an even deeper fascination with,” Alex Taylor, VP of RedTube tells Bustle. “Just like eyebrows. Some decades trend with barely there looks, while during others — like we’re seeing today — the full and lush look is more in. Overall, we do believe that the bush is back! Our data reveals that among every age group, ‘bush’ is more popular than ‘shaved’ by a long shot.”
In a report titled, "To Trim Or Not To Trim?" RedTube ran through some of its data and found that searches for the term "bush" on the site was up among all age groups. The term was most popular with RedTube users over 65-year-old. People in this age group were 258 percent more likely to search for porn with the word "bush" than they were with the word "shaved." Overall, 18 to 24-year-olds were the least likely to search for porn with either search term. But there may be a good explanation for why. Here are some highlights of the study:
"Bushy" Is Searched For Most Among Central And Western States
Across the country, searches for "bushy" terms were most popular in Colorado, Texas, and Utah. North Eastern states like New York and Vermont were the least likely to search for it.
Overall, RedTube found that searches for the term "bush" alone has increased. In 2016 alone, searches were below average in June, but managed to steadily rise in six months time. There was a slight dip in February of this year, however, searches are on the rise again.
Maybe it's because it's summer so people are thinking more about hair preferences. I don't really know, nor did the study really go into that. What we do know is that pubic hair is popular among porn users. And as for what that means for you and your pubic hair? Nothing. Keep doing you.
