The Most-Searched Grooming Style In Adult Sites Is...

by Kristine Fellizar

While we all have our personal preferences when it comes to our pubic hair, isn't something a lot of us really think about. It's either you groom it or you don't — you do you. What more? According to a relatively recent survey on Millennial grooming habits conducted by Cosmopolitan.com, most people say they maintain their pubic hair in some way, and a little over half say they feel more attractive when it's groomed. So while you might assume people today aren't feeling the bush as much as you'd hoped, new data from Millennial-centric adult entertainment site RedTube says otherwise. In fact, pubic hair searches in porn is becoming more popular.

“It’s one of those topics that people have always been fascinated by, and nowadays, seem to have an even deeper fascination with,” Alex Taylor, VP of RedTube tells Bustle. “Just like eyebrows. Some decades trend with barely there looks, while during others — like we’re seeing today — the full and lush look is more in. Overall, we do believe that the bush is back! Our data reveals that among every age group, ‘bush’ is more popular than ‘shaved’ by a long shot.”

In a report titled, "To Trim Or Not To Trim?" RedTube ran through some of its data and found that searches for the term "bush" on the site was up among all age groups. The term was most popular with RedTube users over 65-year-old. People in this age group were 258 percent more likely to search for porn with the word "bush" than they were with the word "shaved." Overall, 18 to 24-year-olds were the least likely to search for porn with either search term. But there may be a good explanation for why. Here are some highlights of the study:

Millennials May Not Care As Much, But The Bush Does Win By A Longshot

As for why Millennials aren't searching it as much as the older folks? Well, it could be that the 65+ crew is used to porn stars with pubic hair since Brazilian waxes were hardly a thing decades ago. But Taylor says it could be because Millennials just don't care about hair down there.

"It could be that they just don’t care all that much and that they’re more focused on who they’re having sex with and the various types of sex (i.e. positions) they can experience, rather than whether or not an individual has a certain amount of pubic hair," Taylor says.

But when they did look into Millennial-aged users, the term bush was 891 percent more popular than shaved with 18 to 24-year-olds, and 982 percent more popular with 25 to 23-year-olds. Younger Millennials were also the least likely to search for the word "hairy."

"Hairy Pussy" Is The Top Related Search Term

When it comes to looking up videos featuring porn stars with pubic hair, the top five related search terms were "hairy pussy," "hairy teen (18+), "hairy MILF," "hairy ginger," and "hairy bush." On the other hand, the top-related searches for "shaved" porn are "shaving hairy pussy," "shaved," and "shaved MILF."

"Bushy" Is Searched For Most Among Central And Western States

Across the country, searches for "bushy" terms were most popular in Colorado, Texas, and Utah. North Eastern states like New York and Vermont were the least likely to search for it.

Overall, RedTube found that searches for the term "bush" alone has increased. In 2016 alone, searches were below average in June, but managed to steadily rise in six months time. There was a slight dip in February of this year, however, searches are on the rise again.

Maybe it's because it's summer so people are thinking more about hair preferences. I don't really know, nor did the study really go into that. What we do know is that pubic hair is popular among porn users. And as for what that means for you and your pubic hair? Nothing. Keep doing you.
