Presidents Day is a time that we celebrate the leaders of our country who have made a huge difference — the people who have shaped our history, both good, and unfortunately, bad. But the thing that we all need to remember on this day are those that still bring us hope. The ones that yes, were not the president, but who still inspired us with quotes about resistance that encourage everyone to fight for what is right.

After looking through these quotes and picking a few to highlight, I couldn't help but see an overall theme: Resistance means sticking up for yourself. Resistance means courage. Resistance means not giving up. Right now, if you feel like giving up, if you're tired of fighting, if you want to be complacent... I want to urge you to read these quotes and feel enlightened by their advice. To let that flame ignite inside you once more. To remember why you started in the first place.

This Presidents Day, let yourself feel proud of the people that are fighting for their rights every day during our current political climate, and finally standing up for rights that need to be the norm.

“They think that just because they have only one leader and one head, we are all like that. They know that ten heads lopped off will destroy them, but we are a free people; we have as many heads as we have people, and in a time of need leaders pop up among us like mushrooms.” — John Steinbeck
