There's no doubt that Serena Williams would have come ready to dazzle to pick up her potential award tonight. Williams didn't show to the 2017 BET Awards tonight, but she would have been a vision for her Sportswoman of the Year nomination — and ultimate win! Alongside her in the running was her sister Venus Williams, as well as gymnasts Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles, and basketball player Skylar Diggins-Smith, all of which were deserving to win the award. While the competition is stiff, Williams' would have been unforgettable in her red carpet look.

Last year Williams showed up in a little black dress with revealing cutouts that snaked across her stomach and down the side of her leg. She looked elegant and edgy all at once, bringing a modern twist to the traditional cocktail dress look. This year who knows how Williams would have dressed this year, but it would have been amazing to see what gown she would wear. After winning her 23rd Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open in January this year, the prominent athlete announced she was pregnant with her first child and would be due later this year.

While there were no social media hints as to why Williams skipped the award ceremony tonight, one could guess she just had too busy of a schedule. It's definitely not because her pregnancy is slowing her down, though. For example, on Twitter she mentioned that she was speaking at BlogHer on Friday, June 23, where she was a keynote speaker.

In the speech she revealed that she had a new philanthropic cause, runs several businesses, and recently joined the board of a Silicon Valley tech company. So the woman's schedule is jam packed.

Whatever her reason for skipping the show, it would have been amazing to see what kind of outfit she would have brought together, because her pregnancy looks are on point. From rocking flowy white dresses:
