The 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Soundtrack Is So Much Fun

by Allie Gemmill

You know who looks like they're having a ton of fun in the latest Marvel movie Spider-Man: Homecoming? Practically everyone. Be it Peter Parker, his bestie Ned, or their classmates Michelle and Liz, Tony Stark, or even the villain of the piece, Vulture, there's a lot of fun being had in what will be the third reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. In order to keep pace with this energetic tone, the Spider-Man: Homecoming soundtrack is a super fun MCU tracklist that fans won't be able to get enough of after they see the film.

The first clue that this soundtrack is one of the best in the MCU is the track listing. Just looking over the punny song titles is enough to fill anyone's Spider-Man-shaped heart with glee. I mean, who wouldn't want to bop around to songs that are named "Academic Decommitment," "The Baby Monitor Protocol," and "Pop Vulture"?

Additionally, you know that the Spider-Man: Homecoming soundtrack is going to be much different from other MCU soundtracks — like the markedly more somber Captain America: Civil War soundtrack or the soundtrack to The Avengersbecause of the person responsible for composing the music for Spider-Man: Homecoming's music: Michael Giacchino. This titan of film composition has put his stamp on some of the biggest and most colorful films in the last decade. Primarily working in the superhero and sci-fi films like Star Trek, The Incredibles, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Tomorrowland, Giacchino knows how to make a film score pop.

So it may come as no surprise that to match the energy of a younger Peter Parker as well as the more energetic vibe of the film, which is already being discussed and praised by film critics, Giacchino chose to brighten up the classic Spider-Man theme song and keep the bright energy throughout the film score. While the Iron Man soundtracks may have provided a little edge thanks to the use of AC/DC songs, it's really hard to resist feeling like you just stepped into a Marvel comic when you listen to Spider-Man's super fun music.

Given just how fun the music of Spider-Man: Homecoming is, it's probably not too surprising that fans and critics who have seen the film are in love with it and might even forget this is the third version of Spidey to hit the big screen. Who knows — Spider-Man: Homecoming's soundtrack just might help to make this particular MCU film one of the greatest MCU's entries.
