Torrid's 'Beauty & The Beast' Collection Is Super Dreamy — PHOTOS
Tale as old as time: franchises. Most recently, the Beauty And The Beast machine, as the movie's premier draws closer and the themed offerings keep coming. We've seen everything from brightening, themed serum and lipstick to wardrobe, and Torrid is the most recent to get in on the action, launching a seven-piece collection inspired by the live-action adaption. And as it happens, Torrid's Beauty & The Beast collection is super dreamy, with a mix of feminine shapes, luxe fabrics and provincial prints (no "poor provincial town" shade intended).
While princess-themed collections can be a bit hokey, Torrid's movie-inspired collection nails the ideal blend of mid-19th century French heroine cosplay and, you know, real life. All available now on their website, there's *even* a wine red hooded cape. Imagine warding off your dog's licks in it, it's like you're in the movie. Ranging in price from around $40 to just under $110, the collection is designed for women sizes 10 to 30 — so also firmly kicks often unrealistic body portrayals to the curb, for women of all sizes dreaming of a silky, swirly yellow dress.
Beyond one-to-one design choices (a fitting reception for the live action translation), the brand says they looked to the soundtrack's lyrics for inspiration.
According to a Torrid press release, "Lyrics from the memorable soundtrack become a modern print on a blue dress that recalls Belle’s morning stroll through the town." Ruffles and a scooped, trimmed neckline complete the playful, unabashedly feminine vibe on the frock below.
Likewise, "Delicate embroidered details inspired by the film—think enchanted roses, teapots, candelabras and books—trim both a crimson riding cape and a long ivory coat." The result is a gorgeously structured ivory coat that will fill any fancy coat niche in your heart, especially after a puffer-necessitating winter.
And then the cape, of which I have already spoken my dreams for.
Casualwear is also covered, with the pale, printed Cold Shoulder Dress.
And the Peplum Top, as pretty as it is comfy.
And the Graphic & Lace Tank Top, with it's meta black lace neckline (framing a frame) and gothic illustration.
All in all, Torrid's Beauty And The Beast collection kills it with gorgeous, thoughtful details, embracing the princess look with an inclusive twist. Fans of Belle — and just plain beauty — rejoice.
