Newly-minted Oscar winner and How to Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis is always one to watch on the red carpet at Hollywood awards shows. Her style is effortlessly classic, but her looks often enjoy a thoroughly modern touch, courtesy of her love for bright colors. It's no suprise that Viola Davis' outfit at the 2017 Emmys was chic, sophisticated, and stand out, as the actor opted for a bright orange Zac Posen gown.

Davis' 2017 Emmys dress was long, clingy, and about as lovely as it gets. Davis, after all, does color on the red carpet like no other. She doesn't fear bright pops of color like most stars who stick to black and pale hues. Davis invites bold colors into her look red carpet looks often — and then she owns them.

On the carpet, Davis' hair was swept off her face in a simple updo and her beautiful facial features were on full display. Her fall-ready, berry-stained lips were a central focus of her makeup look. Otherwise, she played it neutral with just some statement lashes.

Davis' 2017 Emmys look fell right in line with what is expected from her. But please understand that "expected" is hardly akin to "predictable." Sticking to the expected just means that Davis has a signature style and knows how to make that work for her, no matter the awards ceremony or formal situation.

Much like the ever-classic Jennifer Aniston, Davis has her style comfort zones and she sticks to them without ever disappointing. Seriously, have you ever seen Davis at a Hollywood ceremony and thought anything other than "Dayum?"

Indeed, Davis has had a string of red carpet "Wow!" moments, and this evening's ensemble was another sartorial win for her. Take a look at her 2017 Emmys gown for yourself.

Not only did the orange Posen gown grab our attention because of its electric hue, but the fabric is downright killer. Notice there is a sheen to the material, which works wonderfully with the eye-catching color.

The bottom of the dress featured a flowing train, upping the overall fanciness of the frock.

Can we also take a second to gawk over how this dress was pretty much made for her skin tone? Add a little bling via the accessories and this is a million dollar look.

Notice how Davis' accessories are all white gold while her bag is a shiny yellow gold hue. Leave it to the star to mix metals and pull it off like a pro. It's not an easy thing to do.

Davis fans and fashion watchers will remember her 2017 Oscar gown, which was a rich, tomato red Armani dress with a cold shoulder construction. Like her 2017 Emmys Posen dress, the bright hue was a wonderful compliment to her gorgeous skin tone. And, again, a metal bag was her go-to accessory.

Her 2016 Emmy gown was also in a bold hue, further proving she never, ever shies away from color. Nor should she. For this show, Davis opted for a bright pink Marchesa dress with a peek-a-boo bodice. Absolutely stunning.

Davis' 2015 Emmys dress was by Carmen Marc Valvo. The white gown with a sprinkling of black designs throughout the middle breaks the color mold when it comes to the actor's more recent styles. While it was not an adventurous shade, it was still a head-turner and unique.

With this string of confident and well-executed "Insert Hollywood Awards Ceremony Name Here" ensembles, Davis has earned a deserved spot as a "not to miss" actor every time she sets a well-heeled foot onto a red carpet.
