Just Because Luann & Tom's Marriage Was Brief, Doesn't Mean It Wasn't Real

It's official: After only seven months of marriage, Luann and Tom D'Agostiono have filed for divorce, the Real Housewives of New York star confirmed on Twitter Thursday. Given the couple's whirlwind romance, some may be quick to raise the red flag for a celebrity stunt, but rest assured: Despite its brevity, Luann and Tom's marriage was real.

The couple had been together for over a year before tying the knot, and Luann has been vocal about their tumultuous but fiery relationship. As she told People last month, “Tom and I have a very passionate love affair going and that’s why we got married. We love each other."

Still, they also weathered their fair share of issues, and ultimately, it seems they just couldn't make it work. According to a close friend of Luann's, who spoke to People anonymously, "it was just obvious they weren’t on the same page.”

For RHONY followers, the news shouldn't be entirely surprising. Luann and Tom have been scrutinized since they first got together and had to overcome concerns of trust and infidelity early on: Season 8 featured a storyline in which Tom was spotted with another woman at The Regency days before their engagement party. (Luann later told Extra they'd since put the incident behind them).

Then, just last weekend, the couple had to once again shut down rumors when reports emerged that Tom has been seen in the Hamptons with another woman. “We are together in Sag [Harbor] and are happy. He went to meet mutual friends for drinks. There is no story there," Luann told Page Six.

Even so, that's a lot to work through for one couple, especially in such a short amount of time, and though their marriage (and love) was genuine, everyone has a breaking point. Apparently, Luann and Tom reached theirs.
