I'm a coffee addict. I have no problem admitting it; I'm sure my co-workers already know, considering the size of the coffee I tote to work with me every morning — and the size of the coffees I follow it up with, without fail, every few hours. To put it simply, the thought of going to a coffee shop and not ordering something with coffee in it seems like the wackiest idea in the world to me. What am I, a well-adjusted individual with adequate time in my day to get a solid eight hours of sleep with perfect REM cycles and no nightmares of missing a super important Biology 101 final even though I graduated college seven years ago? Please. That's just in the movies. That said, I may have to start reconsidering my coffee-only philosophy after reading about what's in Starbucks' Toffee Almondmilk Hot Chocolate, their newest holiday drink of the 2017 season. Because, guys, believe me when I say this: It sounds so lit, I might actually give up at least one of my daily coffees to drink this instead.
Just a note, you might wanna keep a roll of paper towels nearby for the rest of this post — getting drool on your laptop or phone is bad, and you don't want to have to deal with that now (not that that's I had to find that out the hard way because I was reading about something delicious and accidentally drooled on my laptop). According to Starbucks, the new Toffee Almondmilk Hot Chocolate consists of steamed Almondmilk (yum), mocha sauce (come to me, my sweet child), and toffee nut syrup (I have never tried you, but I look forward to it), and is topped with whipped cream (Starbucks has the best whipped cream, fight me), and Caramel Brulée topping (someone hold me). Yes, there's no coffee, aka no caffeine, but WHO NEEDS IT WHEN YOU HAVE CARAMEL BRULÉE TOPPING AND WHIPPED CREAM?
This drink joins Starbucks' existing line-up of hot chocolate drinks, which seems to be growing just as delicious and lengthy as their coffee menu by the second: There's also a Peppermint Hot Chocolate, Snickerdoodle Hot Chocolate, and Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate on the hot chocolate menu at the chain. In other news, I want them all. How many hot chocolates is too many hot chocolates? (None. The answer is none.)
Of course, since the Toffee Almondmilk Hot Chocolate sounds like a firmly seasonal drink, it begs the question — is this going to be one of those Starbucks releases where they dangle this delicious new drink option in front of us when it's cold and we're all vulnerable and looking for comfort and warmth, only to rip it away from us before anyone has even taken the Christmas lights down from their gutters yet? Well, Starbucks has released this drink as a holiday beverage, but, according to the coffee giant, the Toffee Almondmilk Hot Chocolate is actually going to remain on the year-round menu, along with the chain's other hot chocolate offerings. So, even if you don't get a chance to try this drink before the holiday season is over, you can still order it once spring, or even summer rolls around. Bless the chocolate powers that be!
Salivating yet? Same. Luckily for all of us, as of Nov. 21, you can get your hands on it to try it for yourself/use it as a hand-warmer when you can't find your gloves even though it's 30 degrees outside. It's multi-use! Find it at participating Starbucks locations — aka, any Starbucks in the U.S. — and order to your heart's desire.
