Kit Harington has become quite the heartthrob as Jon Snow on Game of Thrones — quite the sad, brooding, know-nothing, came back from the dead heartthrob. And being a heartthrob, it's no surprise if fans are wondering if Kit Harington is dating anyone IRL, especially because there have been rumors about him and his co-star Emilia Clarke in the past.

On the Season 7 finale, Jon Snow, the King of the North, finally hooked up with the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, (who's also his aunt, mind you). The on-screen union of Harington's Jon Snow with Clarke's Daenerys brings those old dating rumors to mind. Of course, there would also be the wish fulfillment of two good-looking actors who are together on-screen being together for realsies.

Rumors about Harington and Clarke dating have persisted long before the two long-lost relatives/lovers (yeah, it's messed up) ever met in Westeros, but they will be the first to tell you that they are just friends. In fact, Harington is dating former co-star Rose Leslie, who played Jon Snow's first love, Ygritte. And they are very adorably in love.

Harington and Leslie met while filming Season 2 of Game of Thrones in 2012. Though they've never confirmed when they started their relationship, there have been rumors that they first got together in 2012 and were ultra private about an off-and-on relationship until 2016 when they made their red carpet debut at the Olivier Awards.

Harington caused a collective swoon when he talked about falling in love with Leslie in an interview with Vogue Italia in May 2016. When he was asked about his favorite moment filming GoT, he said it was filming Season 2 in Iceland, when Jon Snow met the wildling woman of his dreams. "Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love," he said. "If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it's becomes very easy to fall in love." Sigh.

Until they made their relationship public in 2016, the pair had been very tight-lipped, though they had still gushed about each other as "friends" and co-stars in many interviews. Talking to the GoT fansite Winter Is Coming in 2013, Harington said of Leslie:

"We’re very, very close, me and Rose. We’re very good friends. We instantly got on. We’re very, very lucky in that way, because obviously we’ve got a lot to do in Seasons 2 and 3... You know you are going to get on with someone when you share their same sense of humor. So we just laughed as much as we could and actually had a great time..."

It's not clear exactly how long they've been together officially, especially since Harington told the Evening Standard in 2014 about rumors that they were dating: "All rumour and myth. Me and Rose [Leslie] are very, very close and very good friends. And continue to be, actually. She’s wonderful. But no, no love affair." Maybe not right at that moment.

In June, there were rumors that Harington had proposed to Leslie, which they declared false. They might not be engaged, but they have shacked up. On the Late Late Show Harington told James Corden, "I've moved in with my other best friend Rose. So I'm very, very happy and it's going well." Nicole Kidman was also a guest, and she said what everyone was thinking and asked, "Are you going to get married?" Harington was flustered because you don't want to lie to Nicole Kidman. He answered: "I've been put on the spot by Nicole Kidman! I mean it's step by step, step by step."

You know nothing about hiding your feelings, Jon Snow.
