Deluca Could Get Rejected On 'Grey's Anatomy'

Richard Cartwright/ABC

I guess there’s never a good time to blurt out that you’re in love with someone who probably will never return your affections, but one of those bad times is definitely when a friend of yours is mourning the death of love and life and marriage. That’s a bad time, and that’s precisely what Deluca did on Grey’s Anatomy. Will Deluca tell Jo that he loves her on Grey’s Anatomy? Guy better proceed with caution, because I’m not sure this is going to end the way he hoped.

Of course, if you’ve been watching for the past two seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, you pretty much already knew that Deluca was in love with Jo. After Karev beat the ever-loving snot out of Deluca (the whole thing was a misunderstanding, but it was real bad), Jo couldn’t really stand to talk to either of them, one for anger purposes and the other for prosecution purposes, respectively. But as soon as Karev was about to get convicted of assault, Deluca dropped the charges against him. Why? Because making Jo testify in court against Karev could land her in danger — she was married before to an abusive a-hole, and she didn’t want him to find her. Jo isn’t even her real name. Why would Deluca drop those charges unless he loved Jo? He sacrificed his own justice to keep her safe. I’m not saying I’m an expert on romance, but I know a grand gesture when I see one.

When Deluca blurted out that he loved Jo, Stephanie was his only audience, and her reaction was the same as mine — dude, no. Firstly, Stephanie was crying over the loss of a patient and that patient’s 60-year marriage, and secondly, no. Jo loves Alex, but she is being difficult in circling back her feelings to him. Jo would have married Alex had she not already been married. That doesn’t just go away. Deluca could confess his true feelings to Jo, but I can’t imagine that it will end well for anyone in this doctoral love triangle.
