Warning: This post contains MAJOR SPOILERS from the Big Little Lies book There are many mysteries in the town of Monterey, but the biggest one is probably who's dead on Big Little Lies. We’re a few episodes in now and we still don’t know who the victim is, but it seems like the show is waiting until the end for the big reveal. Like all adaptations, the show can go in two directions, it can stick to the book or it can go off-script and surprise us all. It seems however, that the HBO show is planning on keeping things the same if the first few episodes are any indicator.

GIANT SPOILER ALERT

So, if that's the case, Perry will be murdered by the end of Big Little Lies. He may be hot, but trust me, by the end of the series, you'll be rooting for the murderer to take care of business. We learned in the very first episode that Perry has been abusing Celeste, and it's pretty clear that he's the major villain in the novel. Yes, Renata is pretty annoying with her accusations against Ziggy, but, in comparison, the moms are pretty harmless. Perry's violent behavior against Celeste gets more and more aggressive as the show/book goes on. Not to mention what happens when she finally tries to get away from him. It seems like the bigger mystery of the show is going to be whether or not the show will change up who the murderer is in the end.

How do I know Perry will still be the target in the end? There have been several plot points that match the book thus far that point in his direction.

First of all Amabella was choked by somebody and it seems very clear that Ziggy had nothing to do with it. He seems like a sweet kid and nobody is buying that he actually hurt the girl. So if he didn’t do it, who did? In the book it turns out that Perry’s violent behavior doesn’t go unnoticed by the world because at least one of his twins is the culprit behind the attack against Amabella. The young boy threatens her in order to keep her quiet. Blaming Ziggy was the only thing she could do, and the show is following the book pretty spot on.

The next clue is that we still don’t know why Jane is in town and it’s obvious that she has a faux answer when people ask her why she’s moved to Monterey. We also know that Ziggy has asked about his father in the past and her response is that he doesn’t have one. Since both of these questions have already been asked by Episode 2, it seems like the identity of Ziggy’s father, who has ties to Perry, will come into play at some point, just like in the book. While that doesn’t seem important yet, it is a clue that Perry will remain the murder victim.

Finally, by the second episode, we can already see that Celeste is backing away from her husband. In the book, after she finds out about her son being Amabella’s bully, she decides that she needs to get away from Perry. I would say that by Episode 4, she’s going to be trying to figure out how to get herself out of it. Perry will show up at trivia night after all these things go down and things will not end well for him.

Renata will want him dead for being the reason her daughter was hurt. Madeline wants him dead for hurting Celeste. Celeste wants him dead because he hurts her. And Jane wants him dead for his connection to Ziggy’s father.

Mark my words, Perry will be murdered in the show, and it will be very satisfying. For all those Game of Thrones fans, it's going to feel like Ramsay Bolton's death all over again.
