Face-framing braids are no longer a trend planted firmly in the early aughts. Thank Gen Z for the braided tendril resurgence — and stars like Bella Hadid, Ariana Grande, and Lizzo. Click through to see eight celebs who wore the 2000s-inspired hairstyle like pros.

Ahead of the 2021 Grammys, Dua Lipa’s go-to hairstylist Chris Appleton posted this fun pic of the “Levitating” singer sporting thick, effortless plaits with her otherwise naturally wavy hair.

Vlogger Devon Lee Carlson wore braided tendrils to the Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2020 show last February, proving that the easy trend looks chic in any setting.

Lizzo celebrated her birthday last April with green micro braids and a couple tendrils that were braided on the top and naturally curly towards the ends. Paired with an equally chic bun, the look stands out as one of her coolest.

For her music video for “Off The Table,” Ariana Grande wore plaited strands paired with a half-up, half-down hairstyle courtesy of her go-to pro Josh Liu.

Hailey Bieber loves braided tendrils, most recently rocking the style just last month while attending her hubbie Justin Bieber’s concert.

Y2K braids feel especially nostalgic when paired with a similar hairstyle of the era: half-up, half-down pigtails, seen here on TikTok star Charli D’Amelio.

Bella Hadid recently posted this throwback in which she sports teeny-tiny micro braids with the rest of her strands pulled back.

Hairstylist to the stars Justine Marjan even got in on the action, braiding not one but two pieces of her hair on either side for a fun effect and fresh take on the look.

Tessa Thompson’s torso-grazing braided tendrils came courtesy of hair expert Lacy Redway. With the rest of her hair in a braided updo, the look was truly stunning.
