CBD wellness products are nothing new, with everything from lip balm to cocktail bitters now coming hemp-infused. But, I must admit that I hadn’t dipped my toes into the CBD cocktail waters until just recently, when I sampled Happy Flower’s non-alcoholic CBD cocktail offerings. With the hectic holiday season fully underway, it felt like an apt time to see what 25 milligrams of broad-spectrum CBD could do for my chill (or lack thereof). With four flavors to choose from, I sipped my way through each one during a busy holiday week in December. Here’s my honest review.

Fast facts

  • Active ingredients: 25 milligrams broad-spectrum CBD plus L-Theanine
  • Free from: alcohol and THC
  • Available flavors: Mojito, Margarita, Peach Bellini, and Strawberry Daiquiri
  • Third-party tested for maximum purity, label accuracy, and absence of harmful contaminants
  • Pack size: offered in single cans, 4-packs, and 24-packs
  • Available for purchase: exclusively on Happy Flower’s website; some states excluded from shipping

First impressions

In tall, 12-ounce cans reminiscent of hard seltzers, the Happy Flower cocktail packaging is bright and poppy, though the prominent cannabis leaf emblazoned on the front makes it clear this is no average soda. There are four flavors to choose from — Mojito, Margarita, Peach Bellini, and Strawberry Daiquiri — but I’m not going to lie, the flavors don’t hem too closely to their monikers (with the exception of Peach Bellini which does taste like your fave brunch cocktail). At least in my case, it was the flavor that I expected to like least — the Daiquiri — that ended up being my favorite. It felt bright and effervescent, whereas the Mojito and Margarita flavors were more hemp-forward. I’m usually a mojito person but that one ended up ranking last on my list.

The degree of chill

As with any CBD product, how your body responds to it will be unique to you, but to give you a rough idea of what to expect in terms of Happy Flower’s mellowing effects — I’d say you definitely can feel the chill, like the rough edges have been rounded off. Subtle but noticeable. From hanging out with friends to watching a holiday movie on the couch, I felt one or two degrees calmer, like the volume dial of my anxiety had been turned down a little.

I never drank more than one can in a sitting, so I didn’t test out the cumulative effects of multiple 25-milligram doses — but if you have a higher CBD threshold, you could easily titrate up, sip by sip.

The flavors

With four flavors to choose from, you’re sure to find one (or several) that speaks to your palate. The brand does recommend serving in a glass over ice for the best experience, although straight from the can also works just fine.

As with any health or wellness supplement, it’s always a good idea to consult your healthcare provider before use. Also, make sure to check the shipping information in the FAQ section of the brand’s website to ensure that Happy Flower ships to your state, as some states are excluded.
