Jon Stewart Drags Ian McKellan Into His Jennifer Lawrence/Helen Mirren Agenda
Jon Stewart may spend a lot of his time on-air confronting news stations for pushing their silly agendas above the truth, but Stewart's recent interview with Ian McKellan is proving that he, too, is not immune. Luckily for us all, his is still a comedy show, so he's got a much better excuse than the rest of them. Still, Jon Stewart's extremely convinced Jennifer Lawrence looks like Helen Mirren, and he will not let it go.
Sir Ian McKellan — he of constant BAMFdom and the best friendship of all time — stopped by The Daily Show Monday night to promote The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug, and Stewart swiftly changed the subject from literature ("liiiitttrature," as Sir McKellan pronounces it). He changes it, of course, to the question of whether or not McKellan knew Helen Mirren when she was younger ("I knew her — she wasn't exactly to my taste, Jon, I'm afraid"), and if so, doesn't she look just like that Jennifer Lawrence girl?
McKellan, of course, is in the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past with Lawrence, and his response to whether the two women bared the shocking resemblance Stewart claims they do was a "not particularly."
Basically everything is hilarious and cute and Ian McKellan should go on The Daily Show more often. It should also be noted that he says some really interesting stuff about living in London during the Blitz, so the entire interview's worth watching.
Now all we have to do is wait for Helen Mirren herself to make an appearance on the show.
