Will Lady Gaga Work On New Music Now?

by Maggie Malach

It's a bittersweet moment for Lady Gaga. On Aug. 1, the singer ended her Cheek to Cheek tour with Tony Bennett. Although the two will reunite when Bennett sings at Lady Gaga's wedding, their partnership is over, at least for the moment. "I'm so sad that this tour is ending. I will never forget it as long as I live. And maybe longer," Gaga captioned an Instagram photo. Considering that this era of her career ended, does this mean that Lady Gaga will start working on her new album?

In September 2014, Gaga and Bennett released their collaboration album, Cheek to Cheek. However, we haven't received a full-fledged Stefani Germanotta album since 2013's Artpop. While the album was received with mixed reviews, the project was Gaga's way of proving she can be successful without her high-fashion looks. She told the Guardian:

"... I, in the most metaphorical explanation, stood in front of a mirror and I took off the wig and I took off the makeup and I unzipped the outfit and I put a black cap on my head and I covered my body in a black catsuit and I looked in the mirror and I said: 'OK, now you need to show them you can be brilliant without that.' And that's what ARTPOP is all about. Because I knew that if I wanted to grow, if I really wanted to innovate from the inside, I had to do something that was almost impossible for me."

Artpopspawned three singles for Gaga, the last being "G.U.Y.," which impacted radio in April 2014. In other words, it's been a really long time.

Cheek to Cheek showed fans another authentic side of Gaga, but we're still left wanting more new music from the singer. Now seems like the perfect time. With new Lady Gaga music comes new videos and new envelope-pushing outfits. Mother Monster never fails to get the conversation going and we've waited far too long for her original music.

Lady Gaga, please, please, please give the world a new album soon. Your Little Monsters want to see you back in action, disco bra and all.
