Are Red Coat & Uber A The Same Person On 'PLL'?

Last week, Pretty Little Liars did something to fans that it's never done before: it showed Red Coat and Charles working together to take down the Liars. That's right, folks — two of Rosewood's most formidable foes have finally shared some screen time, which proved to be all sorts of exciting. But, as per usual on this series, Red Coat's return came with it a whole new set of questions and even brought some old ones back to the surface — like whether or not this means Red Coat and Uber A are the same person.

The concept of characters obtaining multiple identities has become a relatively common practice for PLL throughout the years. So now that Red Coat's been thrown back into the mix and we've actually seen her working with Charles, we have more incentive than ever before to try and unmask (or in this case de-hood) this suspicious PLL player once and for all. But as for how many identities this hooded figure may be donning, I'm afraid that right now all we can do is speculate. That being said, I am more inclined now to believe than ever before that Red Coat is, in fact, Uber A.

For starters, there's the fact that Charles just recently received a birthday gift from his devoted "ally" a few weeks back, which just so happened to immediately precede Red Coat's return. That can't be a coincidence, right? And who's a more dedicated ally to A than Uber A?

Of course, A's been known to have multiple minions on his side in the past, but there was just something about watching these two devious minds come together last week that made me think we finally had both A's on-screen at the same time. I mean, talk about worlds colliding!

And whether it meant to be or not, I also found the synopsis for PLL 's Season 6a finale to be rather telling in a very subtle way:

"Who killed Toby’s mother? Who hit Alison in the head with the rock the night she went missing? Who is Red Coat? Who killed Bethany? Who is the Black Widow? Why has ‘A’ been targeting the PLLs all this time? After years of torture, Alison, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer finally come face-to-face with their tormentor and learn the story of how and why Charles became ‘A.’"

Anyone else find it odd that Uber A wasn't mentioned at all in this description? Seems kind of strange to exclude such a significant player, especially since all of our questions are supposedly getting answered. So what gives? My opinion is that Uber A did actually get mentioned in the synopsis, but under the guise of another faux identity… like Red Coat, perhaps. Think about it — if Red Coat is Uber A, then there'd be no need for the character to be listed twice because when we discover Red Coat's identity, we'll also be discovering Uber A's identity as well.

Of course, I could be wrong. (A shocking concept, I know.) But sometimes it's the subtlest details that can hold the most weight. And given that Uber A and Red Coat have proven to be equally devoted to Charles and his mission, it would make sense if the two characters were actually one in the same.
