How Did Kim Kardashian & Paris Hilton Meet? It Happened Long Before One Of Them Employed The Other
Long before there was Keeping Up With The Kardashians, long before there was The Simple Life, there was a pair of best friends called Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton. Being that they survived similar upbringings — you know, wealthy and in the public spotlight, the horror — it's not surprising that they bonded over everything they had in common. Although they aren't as close now as they used to be (and Kardashian's a little busy with, you know, running her empire, raising North West, and incubating her second baby with Kanye West) their friendship will always be legendary. Of course, when think of Paris Hilton, you usually also think of Nicole Richie, but thoughts of Kim Kardashian are never too far behind. And since they've had such a storied history together, there's a very important question that must be answered: How did Kardashian and Hilton meet?
In their younger years, Kardashian and Hilton were basically peanut butter and jelly, an unforgettable relationship that has passed the test of time, like Romeo and Juliet or Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. And their lifelong friendship is essentially a Nicholas Sparks movie, except both of them are still alive... albeit no longer BFFs.
It all began when Kardashian and Hilton were kids — aka even before the era Kardashian was still describing herself as a princess on her all-pink MySpace. The way Hilton tells it, they've been friends since they were "little girls." In an interview with Yahoo, she basically said that they've "always been friends" and left it at that. Unfortunately, that does not satisfy my curiosity one bit, so we can probably all just makeup a fairytale first meeting in our heads involving a childhood game of tag or something.
Later on in their friendship, when Kardashian was trying to break her way into the business, she became Hilton's assistant — kind of like that time in alternate reality Friends when a struggling Chandler became Joey's PA to pick up extra cash. It's actually very ridiculous to think of the fact that the woman we know as Kim Kardashian today, a business powerhouse who is amazing at contouring, was actually doing Hilton's dirty work, but if that doesn't inspire you to keep working for your dreams, I don't know what will.
And as for why they're no longer friends today? Kardashian's only answer is that they drifted apart as many friends do, and it wasn't anything more than that. And in interviews since then, she's pretty much had nothing but sweet things to say about her (I mean, besides that GIF up there).
"We grew up together. I love her, I think she's a sweet girl, but I haven't seen her or talked to her in a year," she said in the interview above. "I do think I learned a lot from Paris. I think that she has always been so gracious to the paparazzi, to her fans, and has taught me, you know, that there's no real need or reason to never not be."
If there are truly no hard feelings, I demand that these two rekindle their friendship for a Keeping Up With The Kardashians meets The Simple Life spinoff immediately. It would be epic, and maybe this time, Hilton can be Kardashian's assistant? It would be reality TV gold.
