Gina Rodriguez's Beauty Hack Is Genius

by Lauren Turner

If you've ever done a five-minute-face, then you know how important it is for the products you choose to be super powerful and efficient. Which is only one of the reasons that Gina Rodriguez's Rosebud Salve beauty hack, which she shared with Allure, is seriously something that we all should try/live by. The Jane The Virgin star always looks so refreshed, and now I feel like I know why. With sleep apparently not being a thing for anyone, adopting her trick into your morning routine might just be the best thing for you (and me, obvi).

After washing her face, Rodriguez reaches for her blush, mascara, and of course, her magic salve. "I take a little bit of Rosebud Salve and I put it on my cheeks and then I'm glowing," Rodriguez said to Allure. "You can even put it down the bridge of your nose, and it makes you look dewy." And that's it. So considering the fact that she looks the way she does and spends no time, while the Kardashian's beauty routine requires such work, makes me think Rodriguez has it all figured out. Maybe I can agree with her so much because I practically follow the same beauty routine, but there's something about the way she applies this less is more mentality to her life, that I like the most.

Rodriguez isn't the only celebrity who swears by the multi-tasking miracle that is Rosebud Salve. Model Erin Wasson's brought the stuff to her cover shoots, Gleeactress Melissa Benoist's been spotted wearing it for a no-makeup look, while Rachel Skarsten told The Fashion Spot she'd never leave the house without it. Plus, Ana Gasteyer, Jenny Slate, and Helene Kuhn are just some of the celebs who've name checked Smith's Rosebud Salve during interviews with Into The Gloss. Basically, if you're not smearing this stuff on your face yet, it's time to snatch up a tin.

Not only does Rodriguez stick to a routine consisting of only four products, but the way she carries herself as a role model follows in her "uberchill" way of life. "I'd like to portray an image where you can look at yourself in the mirror and see your beauty without makeup," Rodriguez continued in her Allure interview. "I'd love for young girls to wake up in the morning and see that they're unique and that they're beautiful today. We're constantly being told that we have to be something else in order to reach beauty. Instead of that, young girls need to be told, 'No, actually, you're beautiful right now, and you don't have to do anything else to make that happen.'"

Seriously, how poetic is that? And she couldn't be more right. With all of the images that are thrown at young girls today, it's hard for them (or anyone, rather), to differentiate reality from Instagram's reality. There is beauty in everyone that should be recognized, and Rodriguez's message is a great way to help drive that point home.

Rodriguez has been a major source of inspiration for us pretty much since she hit the screen in Jane The Virgin, constantly coming up with one empowering message after the next. Whether she's talking about breaking into an industry you love, body positivity, refusing to be cast as a stereotype, or just giving her tips on a minimalistic beauty routine, there's a whole lot to love.
