Where To Watch 'Jurassic World'

by Dino-Ray Ramos

There was one movie that demolished box office records and became a huge commercial success this summer. You may have heard of it — it's called Jurassic World. The movie breathed new life into a decades-old franchise and beat out The Avengers to become the third-highest-grossing movie in history behind Titanic and Avatar. With all of its success, I know you're dying to own it on digital download — and these days the wait is shorter to fulfill our instant gratification. So where can you watch Jurassic World online? According to Collider, Jurassic World will be available for download on October 1, 2015 on Digital HD. But if you're more of the Blu-Ray/DVD kind of person (like myself) you can purchase it on October 20 — the same day it will be available on Amazon and iTunes streaming.

The franchise started in 1993 with Jurassic Park and pretty much introduced audiences to a whole new world of filmmaking. Then The Lost World: Jurassic Park happened and didn't live up to the original. After Jurassic Park III in 2001, a break from the franchise seemed needed — and there needed to be some serious regrouping of how a fourth installment (if there was even going to be one) was going to be done. Luckily 14 years later, movie technology has accelerated, Chris Pratt came into our lives, and the studio served up Jurassic World, a new, refreshing iteration that pleased audiences and critics alike, and raked in millions and millions of dollars.

The movie has become so big that is it being re-released into theaters the weekend of August 28 as Jurassic World: An IMAX 3-D Experience. So if you haven't had the opportunity to watch it, now's your chance. But if you can't make it out to an IMAX theater, here are some digital download alternatives on iTunes that can tide you over until October 1 when Jurassic World will be unleashed to the masses.

The Jurassic Park Bundle

It only makes sense that you watch all three movies in the franchise while waiting for Jurassic World to come out. Luckily, iTunes has a bundle that includes Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Jurassic Park III. If you watch one, you might as well watch them all.

The Back to the Future Trilogy

Since we're talking about trilogies, why not watch one of the best ones of all time? Plus, Back to the Future celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Now's a better time than ever.

The Ice Age Bundle

If you want to stick with the prehistoric vibe, the Ice Age franchise has more than enough to keep you at bay until Jurassic World hits the servers. This family-friendly bundle includes the original film, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, and Ice Age: Continental Drift.

Godzilla (2014)

If gigantic monsters terrorizing huge crowds is what you want, then Godzilla will deliver the goods. iTunes has many of the classics in its library, but start with the most recent one and work backward...but feel free to skip the movie from 1998.

Pacific Rim (2013)

Again, Pacific Rim will fulfill your craving for huge alien "kaiju" monsters. They're not quite dinosaurs, but they are just as badass as the Indominus Rex in Jurassic World. Plus, there are cool giant robots fighting them!

There may still be a little over a month before Jurassic World becomes available on digital download, but there are plenty of other like-minded movies to sink your teeth into while you're waiting. As for me, I'll be watching Jurassic Park on repeat.
