Sad News For Jon Hamm & Jennifer Westfeldt

by Caitlin Flynn

Another day, another celebrity breakup — but this one is totally sad. Rumors have been swirling for several months, but it's now been confirmed by People that Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt have broken up after 18 years together. In their joint statement to the magazine, the couple said: "With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history. We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward."

Although they never married, Hamm and Westfeldt were extremely committed to one another. They met at a party in 1997 and in 2010 Hamm described Westfeldt as "the love of my life". She may not be a household name, but Westfeldt is a successful screenwriter whose credits include the critically acclaimed Kissing Jessica Stein. She has also guest starred on Girls, 24, and Grey's Anatomy. The couple starred together in the 2011 film Friends with Kids, which Westfeldt also wrote.

In April, the couple denied rumors that a break-up was imminent, and they appeared happy together during a public appearance in July at the Wet Hot American Summer premiere after-party. Earlier this year, the Mad Men star completed a stint in rehab for alcohol abuse and credited Westfeldt with supporting him throughout the ordeal.

At this time, a rep for Hamm has not yet commented on the split. We wish both Hamm and Westfeldt the best during this undoubtedly difficult time.
