How To Make Your Own Kanye 4 Prez Costume

by Nicole Pomarico

Maybe it's because Donald Trump is running for president in 2016, or maybe it's because nothing any celebrities do can shock me anymore, but I wasn't too surprised when Kanye West announced he's running for president in 2020 at the end of his Video Vanguard acceptance speech at the 2015 MTV VMAs. Of course, he hasn't said whether or not he's actually serious about this yet, so I guess we'll have to wait a few more years before we find out for sure, but in the meantime, there's one thing you can do: dress in a President Kanye West costume for Halloween. It might sound crazy, but it's actually the perfect costume. It's topical, it's funny, and I doubt anyone else at the parties you hit on Oct. 31 will be wearing the same thing. And in case you're wondering how to build your President West Halloween costume, don't worry, I have you covered.

All you need are the following clothing items and accessories, plus a Kanye West attitude. If you're struggling with that, think of how you feel when you wake up on Monday morning and have to go to work, but remember you could probably have some ice cream during your lunch break. West is made of equal parts dread and secret happiness like that.

Oh, and definite bonus points for a friend willing to dress up like Kim Kardashian as first lady with you. Double bonus points if you can also find a baby to dress in all black and address as North for the evening.

Obviously, there's no telling what West's actual candidate apparel is going to look like, so it's probably best to go off of what he wore at the VMAs for now. It's easy, it's comfy, it's inexpensive — basically the ideal costume. Your friends who are dressed as sexy Elsa will be so jealous.

A "Kanye For President" Button

This is a real product I found on Etsy. It has already begun.

A Pair Of Yeezy Boosts

Because if you think West won't be promoting his own shoes the entire time he's running for president, you are sorely mistaken. If you can't get your hands on Yeezy Boosts (it is hard) any black sneakers will do.

A Yeezy Tour Jacket

West (and North and Kris Jenner...) is often spotted wearing one of these, but since the original is sold out, you can get a very close copy on Etsy. It's not going to be cheap, though — this one will run you about $50. Of course, there's always the option of buying a plain black jacket and Yeezifying it yourself with your printer and some iron-on transfers, which would be pretty easy.

A Red, White, & Blue Top Hat

It's sparkly, it's patriotic — two words I'd never thought I'd use to describe West. You can grab this one at Party City for $2.99... and then, you know, save it for the 4th of July next year.

These Kanye West Stickers

Or similar stickers of your choosing. These are to pass around to party guests who may not get your costume. Plus, spreading the word of Kanye is never a bad idea.

Get ready to win a costume contest with the least amount of effort you've ever exerted in your life — you know, beside ordering stuff online. Kanye would be so proud.
