The fall season is two weeks out, but even though temperatures are still reaching the mid 80s, celebrity styles are providing us with some serious sweater weather inspo. Kendall Jenner wore a turtleneck crop top and high-waisted white denim in a photo uploaded to her Instagram Thursday, combining styles from the '70s with oversize Harry Potter-meets-hipster round rimmed specs. I’m all for the '90s making a comeback this season, but the '70s are having a moment themselves, and if Jenner’s on board, save me a seat.
Crop tops are becoming so versatile. What was once a sexy, summer trend has transitioned from a shorts and shirt duo to the perfect pairing to any high-waisted pant or skirt. I have such a love-hate relationship with turtlenecks, some of them make me feel like I’m choking with no way out, but giving this season staple a revamp by adding the chunky, high neck to a standard crop top is probably worth the wear.
I would describe Jenner’s look as a modernized hipster. The bug-eye shades are a nice touch. She’s got a blast from the past vibe going for her, but I wouldn’t think twice if she were to walk down the runway in this exact outfit.
The first thought to cross my mind at the sight of Jenner's latest 'gram was "I need that look," and I'm thinking you do too. Check out below how you can snag Jenner's '70s inspired style this season.
1. Isabel Marant
High Waisted Stretch Cotton Denim Pants, $490.00, luisaviaroma.com
A little pricey for my budget, but if you're willing to splurge you could be #totaltwinning with the eldest Jenner sister in these bottoms.
Moto 'Binx' Button Front Slim Jeans, $80.00, nordstrom.com
The key to pulling off Jenner's look is finding the right pair of white denim jeans with button detail. For only $80, these aren't a bad alternative.
Rivington High Waist Denim Ankle Grazer Jeggings, $51.00, asos.com
For a more simplistic look, stick with your standard high-waisted white jeans.
1. Susana Monaco
Turtleneck Crop Top in Pine, $101.00, revolveclothing.com
Jenner's photo is obviously shot in black and white, but for some reason I could picture her rocking a dark green shade.
2. UNIF X UO
Fine Gauge Cropped Sweater, $59.00, urbanoutfitters.com
Black and white is always chic.
3. Nasty Gal
Cut Above Crop Top, $42.00, nastygal.com
There is just something about this crop top that drew me to it. Whether it's the crisscross cut, the comfy looking material, or the grey coloring, I could easily see this becoming a closet fave.
