The 'Girls' Cast Was Missing From The Emmys Carpet

by Erin Mayer

If you're anything like me, you were probably looking forward to seeing what the cast of Girls would wear to the Emmys, especially leading ladies Lena Dunham, Zosia Mamet, Allison Williams, and Jemima Kirke. They each have vastly different personal style! But the cast of Girls skipped the 2015 Emmys red carpet — all except for Adam Driver, who is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Adam Sackler, Hannah's on again, off again love interest.

So, why did Driver's cast mates walk the red carpet with him tonight? While we can't be entirely certain, I think I can make some educated guesses. But first, let me bemoan how much more boring the red carpet was without them! Dunham is known for her totally quirky, love-it-or-hate-it outfit choices (I tend to fall on the "love it" side, in case you're wondering), Mamet is more digestibly twee, whether she's rocking granny grey locks or a mini dress that's just offbeat enough to be a crowd pleaser without alienating fans of more traditionally glam tastes. Williams has the most classic look, and Kirke goes full-on hippie dippy more often than not. Each woman has her own thing going on, but somehow it all clicks when they hit the red carpet together.

For that reason, I'm a little bummed they opted out. But let's take a look at what the Girls cast was doing instead — and what they were wearing while they did it.

Let's start with Driver, who was the only one to walk the carpet tonight. He looked super dapper in his black suit and bow tie.

Lena Dunham

Dunham and Kirke were together earlier on Sunday, looking adorable if not awards-show ready in a yellow sweater/blazer combo and a flower crown, respectively.

Jemima Kirke

The actress posted this tweet about an hour before the ceremony, confirming that she and the Girls creator were on a road trip in Wyoming.

Zosia Mamet

Mamet posted this image on the afternoon of the Emmys. Idyllic, but certainly not the Emmys venue.

Allison Williams

Williams just got married on Saturday to Ricky Van Veen of College Humor, so she's probably on her honeymoon or at least enjoying some quality time with her new hubby. She did post this throwback of her Emmys dress from last year earlier this week, though.
